The Ministry of Health announced on the afternoon of March 7 that a 27-year-old man from Daegu, South Korea, returned to Vietnam and was immediately quarantined. Now, his sample has tested positive for nCoV.

Thus, in less than 24 hours, Vietnam has recorded two consecutive cases of nCoV infection. This is the 18th patient since the beginning of the Covid-19 epidemic, and the second case after 23 consecutive days without new cases. The previous 16 patients have been cured.

6 passengers entered the country from a flight with a Japanese person infected with nCoV

Patient 18 is from Ninh Binh. On February 17, he arrived at Gimhae International Airport in Busan City, then traveled to Daegu City (South Korea). He was accompanied by his 24-year-old sister.

The two brothers and two Vietnamese friends went to the supermarket in Daegu twice on February 18-19.

These two friends returned to Vietnam on February 26 and were quarantined at Son Tay Military School (Hanoi) according to regulations.

On March 4, he returned to Vietnam on flight VJ981 from Busan to Van Don. After entering the country, he was quarantined, tested, and the result was positive for nCoV.

The Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control steering committee is implementing measures to control and prevent the spread.

The 17th case is a 26-year-old woman who returned to Vietnam after more than half a month of traveling in the UK, France, and Italy. She was confirmed to have Covid-19 on the evening of March 6. About 200 people who came into contact with her this morning were quarantined in a centralized facility or at home. Epidemiological investigation teams are continuing to review and make a list of people who came into close contact with the patient and those who came into contact with close contacts in the patient's home area; at the place where the patient first came for examination; at the Tropical Hospital, branch 2, and reviewing the entry process of this person at Noi Bai airport.

Hanoi has decided to raise the quarantine level by one level, meaning that people who are quarantined at home will still be sent to centralized quarantine, those who need medical supervision will be quarantined at home, and those who have been in close contact with the patient must be quarantined at the hospital and tested as a Covid-19 case. F4 and F5 cases will be quarantined at home for 14 days, with their body temperature checked twice a day. Continue to investigate and expand surveillance according to the motto "quarantine as you investigate", because these groups can develop the disease at any time.
