(Baonghean.vn) - Hand sanitizer is considered a solution to prevent epidemics during the Covid-19 epidemic. The product is also being deployed by many schools in Nghe An and thereby saving a lot of costs.

Tan Ky High School is one of the newest schools that has successfully mixed hand sanitizer for students with the main ingredients being 96-degree Ethanol, Glycerol, 3% Hydropeoxide, flavoring, and distilled water.

According to teacher Hoang Dang Cuong - Chemistry teacher and also the leader of the implementation, to mix the disinfectant, we followed the formula of the World Health Organization and implemented it quite conveniently because these are all easy-to-buy and easy-to-find ingredients. The product is easy to use because it has a mild smell and especially has high antibacterial properties, no different from the products sold on the market.

Initially, Tan Ky High School only produced about 50 bottles (500ml) to distribute to 39 classes and other specialized rooms in the school such as the team room, medical room, and council room. The teachers involved in the implementation also calculated that a bottle of hand sanitizer on the market costs an average of about 150,000 VND (large bottle) and for regular use during the epidemic season for all classes, it is quite expensive. However, if you buy the raw materials and produce them yourself, the cost is only about 500,000 VND. The bottle to hold the hand sanitizer can be reused many times.

Nghi Loc 5 High School is also the pioneer school in Nghi Loc district to organize the production of hand sanitizer for students with two main flavors: lemongrass and cajuput. Especially, students in the school also participate in the production process and they are really excited to create hand sanitizer bottles for their classmates.

Teacher Dang Dinh Ky - Principal of the school also shared: Producing hand sanitizer has many important meanings. Firstly, it is to encourage teachers and students in the school to apply the knowledge they have learned into practice.

In addition, through this activity, students will also be more aware of protecting themselves and preventing the Covid-19 epidemic. Many students, after making their own hand sanitizer, also said: The production process is not too difficult and can later be mixed at home for use by all family members.

Up to this point, nearly 20 high schools in the province have produced their own hand sanitizer for students and teachers in the whole school. In particular, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, after production, had it tested at the Drug - Cosmetic - Food Testing Center and met the standards according to regulations. The products of teachers and students specializing in Chemistry were then sold outside the school and consumed as they were made.

The participation of schools has also contributed significantly to the prevention of Covid-19 epidemic in order to achieve higher efficiency. And, we believe that in the near future, it will be expanded throughout the province, thereby saving hundreds of millions of dong if the Covid-19 epidemic continues.

In the current context, we appreciate the efforts of schools in producing their own hand sanitizer. The Nghe An Education Trade Union has also asked schools to compile a list of teachers and students participating in the production process for rewards, and this is also a solution to encourage schools to deploy it on a large scale.
