Vietnamese citizens from which 31 countries returning to the country will have to be quarantined?

According to new regulations, all passengers coming from 31 countries and territories with Covid-19 epidemic will have to be quarantined for 14 days.

Starting from March 15, all passengers (including Vietnamese citizens) from 31 countries and territories entering Vietnam will be required to take Covid-19 test samples at border gates.

Any case with a positive result will be taken to the hospital for treatment, all remaining cases will be quarantined until 14 days are completed.

The National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control stipulates 31 countries and territories including: 26 countries in the Schengen area (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland), the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, China, South Korea and Iran.

Previously, passengers from 27 countries and territories (except South Korea, Iran, Italy, and China) were only required to quarantine at home if they did not show signs of fever, cough, shortness of breath, or chest tightness.

For effective quarantine, the Steering Committee requested the Ministry of Transport to promptly notify the number of flights, number and information of passengers, expected landing time, landing locations of flights from countries and territories with Covid-19 epidemic to relevant ministries and People's Committees of provinces and cities to carry out reception and organize quarantine according to regulations.

At the same time, airlines are required to notify passengers about compliance with regulations on disease prevention and control from Vietnamese authorities.

The Ministry of National Defense is responsible for organizing quarantine areas and arranging means of transport to take all people entering the country from or having traveled through countries and territories with Covid-19 within 14 days to the centralized quarantine area. Prepare the necessary conditions in the quarantine area according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry also needs to develop a plan to transfer centralized quarantine cases to other quarantine units in neighboring provinces and cities in case of overload at the military's centralized quarantine areas.

The Ministry of Public Security needs to study a plan to shorten the time for immigration procedures or complete immigration procedures later to avoid overload and crowding at the airport when planes land.

The Steering Committee also requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities to receive, monitor, supervise, organize medical quarantine and direct the collection of samples for testing of all cases returning from countries and territories with Covid-19 epidemic, and arrange locations with full conditions in terms of facilities, human resources and means to be ready to receive quarantine cases in case the military quarantine areas are overloaded.

In Vietnam, as of March 16, 57 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded, of which 16 cases have been cured and discharged from hospital; 41 cases are being treated in hospitals.

Currently, provinces and cities across the country are quarantining and medically monitoring nearly 30,000 people.
