Nghe An: There is no story of closing the traditional market as people worry.
(Baonghean.vn) - Markets are identified as services that provide food and essential needs of people, therefore, they are not included in the list of "temporarily suspended" business activities. Currently, traditional markets in Nghe An province are still meeting and trading normally.

On the morning of March 30, traditional markets in Nam Dan district such as Sa Nam, Sen market (Nam Dan town), Cau market (Kim Lien), Chua market (Nam Anh), Tro market (Xuan Hoa commune)... were still open and selling essential goods to serve the people.
Mr. Tran Van Phu, an expert from the Economic Infrastructure Department of Nam Dan district, said: “21/21 markets in the district are still operating normally. There is no ban on markets or market closures. However, recently, when the epidemic became complicated, the number of people going to the market decreased sharply, the market was less crowded than before, and business was somewhat sluggish. Prices of food items at the market remained stable, there was no price increase.”
In Thanh Chuong district, markets are also open as usual, and trading is still going on as usual. Many localities, in addition to promoting propaganda and advising people on how to go to the market safely during the epidemic season, have also distributed masks and set up points for dry hand sanitizer to serve people going to the market.
Many localities have taken “strong measures” to ensure the safety of buyers and sellers when coming to the market, such as setting up checkpoints at the market gates and not allowing anyone to enter the market without a mask. Typical examples include Bao Duc market (Thanh Khe commune), Phuong market (Thanh Giang commune), etc.
“There is no ban on the market, only propaganda and mobilization of people to limit travel and gathering in crowded places, including limiting going to the market. Instead of going every day, go to the market every 2-3 days. Currently, in addition to propaganda and mobilization of people going to the market to wear masks, the locality has set up checkpoints at the market gates, anyone not wearing a mask is not allowed to enter the market. In particular, services selling breakfast, soft drinks... serving on-site in the market and around the market area are temporarily suspended.”

Localities have stepped up propaganda to encourage people to follow the Ministry of Health's recommendations: Wear masks and disinfect hands when going to the market. Many places in Thanh Chuong have even hung banners: "No masks allowed in the market" right in front of the market gate. Photo: Thanh Phuc |
In Vinh city, major markets such as Vinh Market, Vinh Railway Station Market, Quan Lau Market, Quang Trung, Ben Thuy, Hung Dung, etc. have been operating normally in recent days. The only difference compared to before is that buyers and sellers have complied with the policy of wearing masks in public places; the number of people going to the market has decreased compared to the weekends. Many people have switched to online shopping instead of going to the market directly.
Ms. Cao Thi Hoa, a fresh food trader at Quang Trung market, said: “Nowadays, housewives mainly order via phone, Zalo messages, Facebook. Twice a day (9am and 4pm), I collect orders and deliver food to each house, mainly to regular customers.”

Not only the traditional markets, supermarkets, food stores, and grocery stores in the province are still operating and trading normally. Goods are abundant and prices are stable, without fluctuations. Therefore, it can be affirmed that in Nghe An, there is absolutely no "closing" of traditional markets. People should not be panicked by false rumors and need to access information from the Government and the province in an objective and accurate manner.
