Taking advantage of the epidemic isolation period, illegal sand and gravel mining on Lam River
(Baonghean.vn) - Taking advantage of the social distancing period to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic, some subjects have secretly carried out illegal sand and gravel mining activities on the Lam River.
On the morning of April 2, Do Luong District Police coordinated with the Mobile Police Department and local authorities to inspect, detect, and arrest subjects illegally exploiting sand and gravel in the border area between Ngoc Son Commune, Do Luong District and Tao Son Commune, Anh Son District.

Through inspection, the authorities discovered that at the inland waterway terminal owned by Nguyen Thi Huyen, born in 1977, residing in Hamlet 5, Ngoc Son Commune, Do Luong District, there was an activity of transporting sand and gravel from illegal sand and gravel mining vessels on the Lam River. It is worth mentioning that this inland waterway terminal has been inspected, warned and administratively fined many times by the authorities in the past for violations in the field of inland waterway traffic, but now it continues to re-offend.

At the scene, the authorities seized 1 excavator and 1 car. At the same time, they discovered and arrested 3 homemade steel-hulled boats with engines and pump-suction systems for illegal sand and gravel mining in the river basin. Each boat had a volume of about 8-10 m3 of sand and gravel.
