Phu Dien teacher's initiative to teach online without network congestion

"Online Exercise Sheets" are actually exercises prepared by teachers and shared on Facebook pages and school websites. However, while in normal review outlines, students often have to download and redo on paper, here students can do the exercises directly. To make students interested in the review process, the questions will be given from 3 to 4 answers and students will make their own choices, similar to doing multiple choice exercises.

What is more interesting is that in this form, although teachers and students do not interact directly online, through pre-designed software, the system will automatically grade students' work and in just over 1 minute, after completion, students will know the results. Looking at the scores, teachers and schools will also be able to manage the quality of each student and each class. In case the results are not as expected, students can log in and redo the exercises many times, which is also an opportunity for them to practice their skills and consolidate their knowledge.

The author of “Online Exercise Sheet” is teacher Tran Thanh Chung – Vice Principal of Dien Lien Primary School. This is also the software developed from the Experience Initiative project with the topic “Application of IT in professional management in primary schools” by him and teacher Pham Nam Trung in 2019 and has just been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a provincial experience initiative.

However, if in the old topic, the software used in management is now changed to serve online teaching for students. In the adjustment process, to suit students, the exercises are designed to be lively, eye-catching, in the form of both learning and playing. The lecture content is also designed to suit all students according to 4 levels and teachers will organize the lessons into a system so that students can consolidate all knowledge.

Another advantage of this software is that students can study together with their parents and logging in and using it is not complicated. Sharing about the teaching process for students, teacher Cao Thi Thanh Huong - teacher at Dien Lien Primary School said: Designing these exercises takes a lot of time. But in return, we receive a lot, which is the excitement of students and the support of parents. Besides, teachers can evaluate each student's ability through the results of the exercises.

Previously, the design and application of the software came from the reality of Dien Lien Primary School after more than 2 months of online teaching for students during the time they were off school to prevent Covid - 19. Speaking more about this, teacher Tran Thanh Chung said: Since the schools were off school, we have organized homework for students via the messaging system of the networks or directly delivered homework to each student's home. However, in both of these forms, testing and evaluating students have many shortcomings.

But the new form of homework is very effective because the software is easy to use, can be used on all devices and applied at different times. In addition, when using this form, teachers have complete control over the technology, are not afraid of network congestion, are not inserted into lessons by advertisements; especially, they can proactively give homework according to students' abilities and do not depend on lessons available online.

With easy operations, interesting, lively and practical exercise content, after implementation, all parents and students at Dien Lien Primary School accessed the software and participated enthusiastically. The software is also designed to be open, so students from other schools can easily participate and receive positive results. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (Vinh City) whose child is in grade 2 said: "I was introduced by a friend and also tried letting my child do it and found the exercises were prepared quite well, easy to understand, easy to operate. The children were also very happy doing the exercises because they could grade their own exercises."

In the whole Dien Chau district, after the success of Dien Lien Primary School, the software has also been widely accepted and deployed to 41/41 schools in the whole district. Another good news is that currently, many other Departments of Education and Training in the province have also researched and are encouraging schools to implement this program.
