Nghe An: Highlights of April 20th
(Baonghean.vn) - The last citizen in the provincial quarantine area has returned home; Nghe An supports Xieng Khouang province in preventing and controlling the Covid-19 epidemic; the High Court in Hanoi opens a retrial of the case of Nguyen Nang Tinh for the crime of "Making, storing, disseminating or propagating information and documents aimed at opposing the Socialist Republic of Vietnam"... These are some of the prominent news events that took place in Nghe An on April 20th.
*TAs of the morning of April 20th, the whole country has recorded no new cases of Covid-19 for the fourth consecutive day. Sharing in that joy, in Nghe An, April 20th is also the day...The last citizen in the provincial quarantine area is allowed to go home.This is a citizen who entered Vietnam from Laos via an unofficial border crossing and was detected by authorities and taken to quarantine as per regulations. Thus, at this time, all 28 provincial-level quarantine facilities in Nghe An are empty. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 10,257 people have been quarantined in Nghe An to prevent the spread of the disease. Of these, 6,863 were quarantined at provincial-level facilities.

*LRegarding activities to support our neighboring country Laos in preventing and controlling the Covid-19 epidemic, on the morning of April 20th, at the Nam Can International Border Gate (Ky Son district), the working group of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, led by Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, conducted an inspection.Donated medical equipment and essential supplies to Xieng Khouang province to support the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.The gifts included 10 tons of rice, 50,000 medical masks of various types, 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer, 500 sets of medical uniforms, 135 kg of disinfectant chemicals, and many other necessities, worth over 700 million VND. Also on this occasion, the Nghe An Provincial Military Command donated over 10,000 cloth and medical masks of various types, 300 bottles of disinfectant, 2,000 pairs of gloves, and other necessities to the Hua Phan Provincial Military Command (Laos), worth over 100 million VND.

In Nghe An province, according to statistics, there are 6,198 businesses with 138,585 employees affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The total number of people with meritorious services and their relatives receiving monthly preferential allowances in the province is 70,433; the total number of social welfare beneficiaries receiving monthly social allowances in the community is 133,140; the total number of poor households is 41,041; and the number of near-poor households is 75,398...

According to Government Resolution No. 42, eligible recipients will receive a minimum support of 500,000 VND per month for three months: April, May, and June.

*MAnother event that attracted public attention was the one that occurred on the morning of April 20th.High Court in HanoiThe appellate court hearing for the Nguyen Nang Tinh case has opened.The crime is "Making, possessing, distributing, or disseminating information or documents aimed at opposing the Socialist Republic of Vietnam."
Previously, on November 5, 2019, the People's Court of Nghe An province held the first-instance trial of Nguyen Nang Tinh on the same charge. Claiming he was wrongly convicted, Nguyen Nang Tinh appealed the first-instance verdict. The appellate proceedings clarified that the documents and evidence in this case were collected objectively, comprehensively, and in accordance with the procedures stipulated in the Criminal Procedure Code. The appellate panel rejected Nguyen Nang Tinh's appeal claiming innocence, upholding the original charges and the 11-year prison sentence.
