Vinh Stadium begins 40-day turf renovation process
(Baonghean.vn) - These days, Vinh Stadium - home ground of SLNA Club is starting to be renovated to meet the requirements to host V.League 2020 matches as required by the tournament organizers.
While V.League 2020 is on hold and at the request of VPF, Vinh Stadium's Organizing Committee has begun to maintain the stadium. With a budget of 300 million VND from sponsor Bac A, engineers and workers from Phu Tho will be in charge of this work.
The maintenance process includes re-plowing the ground with a new layer of sand and soil 2cm thick to break up the existing layer of grass. Once the new grass (ginger grass) is regenerated, workers will fertilize, water, mow and flatten the surface before handover.

This process will take place within 40 days, including 10 days for the grass to grow back and complete. According to VPF's plan, the National Cup and V.League 2020 will return in mid-May, SLNA will rent Thanh Hoa Stadium as their home field. The Nghe team's nearest match will be against Nam Dinh Club in the National Cup.
Along with that, the surface water system and sprinklers will be replaced. Because the cost of rebuilding the entire ground and grass surface is quite large; the underground irrigation system is also broken, this is considered a temporary measure to ensure that Vinh Stadium has the conditions to organize competitions again.
However, after renovation, Vinh field will certainly become softer, the grass will grow more evenly and flat. When put into use, care to maintain the quality of the beautiful grass is also very important, because the weather conditions in Nghe An are extremely harsh.

According to research, to replace the field surface with Bermuda grass (coniferous grass) like Hang Day and Thong Nhat stadiums, the cost of making the field surface will be around 1 billion VND, monthly maintenance cost will be around 50 million VND.
With the current ginger grass of Vinh Stadium and most other grass fields in V.League, the maintenance cost will be around 30 million VND/month. However, the lifespan of ginger grass is only 3-5 years, much shorter than the lifespan of 7-10 years of Bermuda grass.
During this time, many teams have also taken advantage of the renovation of the pitch such as Thanh Hoa, Hoa Xuan Stadium (SHB Da Nang). If everything goes smoothly, the National Cup can return on May 15.
