Electricity customers in Nghe An receive nearly 200 billion VND in support from EVN
(Baonghean.vn) - According to estimates from the Business Department of Nghe An Electricity Company, the cost of EVN supporting electricity customers in Nghe An province affected by the Covid-19 epidemic for 3 months is nearly 200 billion VND.
Joining hands with society in the campaign to prevent and fight the Covid 19 pandemic, the Electricity sector has proposed to the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to adjust and reduce electricity prices and electricity bills to support all people and businesses to overcome difficulties during the pandemic.

Immediately after receiving the directive from Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and the Northern Power Corporation, Nghe An Power Company has prepared sufficient human resources to guide and collect documents and information from customers related to electricity price reduction and electricity bill reduction in accordance with the direction of the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, ensuring that no customer is left out or does not receive support according to regulations.
The Company also sent Document No. 1194/PCNA-P9 dated April 20, 2020 to the People's Committee of Nghe An province, requesting the direction of departments, branches and sectors to coordinate as focal points to provide data for implementation to ensure timely and correct subjects. Notify all electricity customers to cooperate in providing documents to enjoy the electricity price reduction policy according to regulations.
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the reduction of electricity prices and electricity bills will be implemented by Nghe An Electricity Company for the entire billing period within 3 months. For customers using electricity for daily life, it will be applied to the electricity bills of May, June and July 2020; For customers using electricity for non-daily life, it will be applied from the most recent billing period from April 16, 2020. The content of the support money for customers affected by the Covid-19 epidemic is shown on the electronic invoices of the billing periods, ensuring a full 3 months.

Nghe An Electricity Company currently has 885,027 customers using electricity for domestic use and 108,020 customers using electricity for non-domestic use. According to the estimate of the Business Department, Nghe An Electricity Company, the cost of EVN supporting electricity customers in Nghe An province affected by the Covid-19 epidemic for 3 months is nearly 200 billion VND.
The efforts to implement timely policies of the Electricity industry in general and Nghe An Electricity Company in particular have demonstrated EVN's responsibility to the community and society.
April, May and June are the peak months of the hot season, so people's demand for electricity will increase. Despite the support of electricity price reduction, Nghe An Electricity Company recommends that people and businesses use electricity economically and effectively to accompany EVN in ensuring national energy security.
According to regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the reduction of electricity prices and electricity bills will be implemented within 3 months as follows:
1. Reduce electricity prices:
- Retail electricity price for manufacturing and business sectors: Reduced by 10%;
- Retail price for household electricity customers: 10% discount from level 1 to level 4.
- Customers are tourist accommodation establishments: electricity price is reduced from the retail electricity price applied to business to the same price applied to manufacturing industries after the discount.
- For wholesale electricity prices in rural areas; wholesale electricity prices in collective housing areas and residential areas; wholesale electricity prices for commercial - service - residential complexes: 10% reduction from level 1 to level 4 of residential prices; 10% reduction for other purposes.
- For wholesale electricity prices for industrial parks, wholesale electricity prices for markets: 10% reduction.
2. Reduce electricity bill:
- Electricity bill reduction is calculated based on the amount of electricity price that the subject is entitled to based on current regulations (pretax value) directly to electricity customers who are facilities for preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic to buy electricity from power units:
- 100% reduction in electricity bills for facilities (other than hotels) used for quarantine and centralized medical examination of suspected and infected Covid-19 patients.
- 20% reduction in electricity bills for medical facilities used to examine, test, and treat suspected and confirmed Covid-19 patients.
- 20% reduction in electricity bills for hotels used to quarantine suspected and confirmed Covid-19 patients.
