(Baonghean.vn) - Returning to his hometown in Yen Thanh (Nghe An) one day after being confirmed to have recovered from the disease, the 36-year-old man was picked up by car to return to Hanoi that same night due to suspicion of testing positive again.

On the morning of April 24, medical staff were thoroughly investigating the epidemic, disinfecting and sterilizing the home of "Patient 137" and related areas in Cong Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District. This patient was also picked up by the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases' vehicle to return for treatment at 11:00 p.m. on April 23.

This man returned from Germany and entered Noi Bai on March 15.

After entering the country, he was taken to the quarantine area in Hanoi and tested positive for Covid-19. After more than 1 month of treatment with 6 negative tests, on April 22, the patient was discharged from the hospital and returned to his hometown in Hamlet 5, Cong Thanh Commune to continue home quarantine. Before returning, the patient was tested again but the results were not yet available.

By the evening of April 23, the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control received information that this patient was suspected of testing positive again. That same night, the Director of the Nghe An Department of Health directed the Provincial Center for Disease Control's Rapid Response Team to coordinate with the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Yen Thanh District and Cong Thanh Commune to conduct an epidemiological investigation and discuss plans for handling, preventing and controlling the epidemic. At 11 p.m., the patient was brought back to Hanoi for further treatment.

According to epidemiological investigation, immediately after being discharged from the hospital, on the afternoon of April 22, the patient took a taxi driven by Dao Van Dat, 35 years old, residing in Phu Thuong ward, Tay Ho (Hanoi), from Hanoi to his home in hamlet 5, Cong Thanh commune (Yen Thanh). On the way back, he stopped to exchange money at a gold shop in Tam Diep city, Ninh Binh province (the exact location is not remembered) and stopped to eat pho at an unknown restaurant in Minh Thanh village, Tan Dan commune, Tinh Gia district (Thanh Hoa) around 7:30 p.m.

At 9:00 p.m. the same day, the patient returned home and self-quarantined at his private residence. According to the 36-year-old man's statement, he had not had contact with anyone in his family or neighbors since returning.

However, authorities are calling on those who have come into contact with the patient to contact Cong Thanh Commune Health Station for advice.
