8 years in prison for fugitive after vandalizing property, robbing ore
(Baonghean.vn) - Chin and his friends vandalized a company's property before stealing tin ore. Fearing arrest, Chin fled the area. After nearly 8 years on the run, Chin surrendered and received more than 8 years in prison.
Tan Ky District People's Court has just tried a criminal case against Nguyen Trung Chin (born in 1987), residing in Ke Mui hamlet, Giai Xuan commune, Tan Ky district, for the crimes of "robbery" and "intentional damage to property".
After discussing and agreeing to rob tin ore of Phu Hung Company Limited in Khe Hao area, Tan Hop commune, Tan Ky district, at about 8:15 p.m. on July 31, 2012, Nguyen Trung Chin, Nguyen Van Hung, Truong Cong Dai, Truong Cong Sang, Nguyen Van Chinh, Nguyen Van Minh, Nguyen Van Thuong, all residing in Giai Xuan commune, Tan Ky district, used knives and sticks to smash and destroy the property of Phu Hung Company Limited, causing a total loss of VND 11,372,800.

During the demolition process, they found 9 bags of tin ore in the shack, so Chin told everyone to take them out, put them on motorbikes, and then go home together. Chin hid them in a wooden crate, then everyone went home.
On August 1, 2012, because he was afraid of being arrested, Chin fled the locality and was wanted by the Investigation Police Agency.
On February 1, 2020, Chin voluntarily went to the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Ky District Police to surrender. The asset valuation record of the Tan Ky District Asset Valuation Council concluded: 9 bags of tin ore with a total weight after removing the packaging of 450 kg, worth 63,000,000 VND.
In this case, the above subjects were tried by the Tan Ky District People's Court on May 9, 2013 and by the People's Court of Tan Ky District in Judgment No. 137 dated August 29, 2013 of the People's Court of Nghe An Province. Nguyen Van Diep was tried by the Tan Ky District People's Court on October 15, 2019. The case's evidence and civil compensation liability have been resolved. Currently, the victim Nguyen Thanh Chung has no request for Chin to pay any further compensation.
At the Investigation Police Agency, Chin confessed to all of his crimes in accordance with the documents and evidence collected in the case file.
At the end of the trial, with the above two charges, the Trial Council sentenced Nguyen Trung Chin to 8 years and 3 months in prison.
