(Baonghean.vn) - During the long April 30 and May 1 holidays, the seafood market is always bustling with buyers and sellers, while the pork market is deserted.

Observations at rural markets in some localities show that during these long holidays, they are always crowded. The most popular items are seafood and vegetables; on the contrary, pork stalls are deserted.

At Dien Thanh market (Dien Chau), where seafood is sold, people jostle each other to buy goods. Ms. Phan Thi Hong, a seafood seller, said that during these holidays, there are more customers buying seafood than usual. Anticipating this problem, she has bought more goods to sell these past few days. The seafood she often buys are fish: silver pomfret, snakehead fish, squid... fresh when the boats have just docked. Ms. Hong added that although there are many customers buying, the prices remain the same.

Seafood at Dien Thanh market is abundant in all kinds, from popular to specialty: crab, shrimp, squid...

Yen Thanh town market is also more crowded these days. In particular, the seafood selling area is the most crowded and bustling. Seafood sold at Yen Thanh town market is usually fish, squid... popular, easy to choose and suitable for people's budget.

The reason why seafood attracts customers while pork is deserted is because seafood has many types, is easy to choose, and has reasonable prices, while pork is still "sky high" in price.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy in Van Thanh commune said: On holidays, all 3 children who work far away come home to be with their parents. During holidays, the family chooses to buy seafood as the main food in meals. Because there are many types of seafood, it is easy to choose; meanwhile, pork is still sold at a high price.

That is also the common mentality of people in this difficult time, when pork prices have not yet dropped. Ms. Vu Thi Hong, a meat seller at Dien Thanh market (Dien Chau) said that because pork prices are still from 140,000 - 170,000 VND/kg, people rarely buy, each market session she only brings out more than 10 kg of meat but it is still difficult to sell.
