Nghe An: Sad about family matters, 19-year-old woman commits suicide by eating poison leaves
(Baonghean.vn) - A young woman born in 2001 in Tri Le commune, Que Phong district committed suicide by using poison ivy after experiencing unhappy family events.
On the afternoon of May 10, Mr. Vi Van Cuong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tri Le commune (Que Phong) confirmed that there was a suicide case using poison ivy in the area. The victim was Ms. Va Y Dia, born in 2001, a Mong ethnic group. Ms. Dia was from Huoi Co village, Nhon Mai commune (Tuong Duong), married and moved to Na Nieng village, Tri Le commune.

According to the victim's family, recently, Ms. Dia had some unhappy personal matters. At around 2:00 p.m. today, after an argument with her husband, Ms. Y Dia went to the Soi Voi area in Nhon Mai commune (Tuong Duong) to eat poison ivy and commit suicide.
Her family discovered her and took her to Tri Le Medical Station for emergency treatment, but they could not save her because she had eaten too much and had died before. It is known that Dia and her husband only had one child under 1 year old.
"Suicides by eating poison ivy still occur frequently in the commune, although local authorities and relevant agencies have made quite a lot of propaganda. Since the beginning of 2020, there have been 6 cases of suicide by poison ivy in Tri Le commune," added Mr. Vi Van Cuong - Chairman of Tri Le Commune People's Committee.
Aconite is considered one of the four most toxic plants (group A poison). A healthy person only needs to eat 3 leaves to die. People poisoned by aconite have symptoms of thirst, sore throat, dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea... then muscle fatigue, low body temperature, low blood pressure, clenched teeth, foaming at the mouth, severe abdominal pain, weak heartbeat, difficulty breathing, dilated pupils and rapid death due to respiratory arrest.
