(Baonghean.vn) - He was the first person to refuse to accept government support money for people in difficulty due to the Covid pandemic. According to him, there are many people in more difficulty, he feels guilty.

In the past two days, the petition of Mr. Cao Viet Tinh (83 years old, 4/4 war invalid, residing in Vinh Tien hamlet, Dien Phong commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province) has been passed around and shared with admiration by many people. Mr. Tinh is the first person in Dien Chau district to submit a petition not to receive the Government's support money for those affected by Covid-19.

Previously, on May 8, after receiving the notice to receive the support money, he cycled to the post office of Dien Phong commune to complete the procedures to receive 1.5 million VND. When receiving the money, he kept wondering what procedures he should follow to give this money to people in more difficult circumstances than himself. Because it was the weekend, he was afraid that the People's Committee of Dien Phong commune had finished working, so he took the money home, waited until Monday to cycle to the commune to write a request, and return the money he had received.

Early in the morning of May 11, thanks to the guidance of the officer in charge, Mr. Cao Viet Tinh submitted a voluntary application not to receive support money for people with meritorious services affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. At the same time, he personally returned the money he had received the day before.

Explaining his decision further, Mr. Tinh confided: "Honestly, although I am very happy to receive the Government's support, I still feel guilty. I am a war invalid, but there are still many people in more difficult circumstances than me. Giving up my support means helping the Government to ease some of the difficulties, and helping those in difficulty to reduce their current difficulties."
