Nghe An requires strict handling of cases of spreading aquatic diseases into the environment.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Provincial People's Committee has just issued Document No. 2957/UBND-NN requesting agencies and units to strengthen measures to prevent and control aquatic animal diseases.
According to the announcement of the Department of Animal Health, in the first 3 months of 2020, the aquaculture area nationwide affected by disease was 1,224.2 hectares, an increase of 8.72% over the same period in 2019.
Some common diseases in shrimp are: Acute hepatopancreatic necrosis (301.84 ha), White spot (522 ha), Hematopoietic and epithelial necrosis (25.27 ha), and some areas affected by Microsporidia. In addition, DIV1 (Decapod iridescent virus 1) has caused damage to the shrimp farming industry in China in recent years, currently there is no information about this disease appearing in Vietnam.
In Nghe An province, since the beginning of the year, the damaged aquaculture area is: 14.8 hectares of clam farming and 43.27 hectares of shrimp farming; of which farmed shrimp are sick with: Acute hepatopancreatic necrosis (7.32 hectares), white spots (33.34 hectares), due to the environment (2.61 hectares).

To effectively implement the work of preventing aquatic diseases according to the provisions of the Veterinary Law, the Provincial People's Committee requests the Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns; Heads of provincial Departments, branches and sectors to effectively implement the following contents:
Direct the People's Committees of communes, wards and towns to synchronously and effectively implement the work of preventing and controlling livestock, poultry and aquatic diseases according to the Decisions of the Provincial People's Committee.
The Department of Agriculture and the Department of Economics coordinate with the Agricultural Service Center, the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station to advise on direction and propaganda for prevention and control of aquatic diseases.
The Agricultural Service Center, the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station assigns officers in charge of points and communes to regularly go to the grassroots to guide, urge, inspect the farming situation, environment, diseases and deploy solutions to prevent and control diseases.
Encourage large aquaculture production and breeding enterprises to: Build disease-safe facilities according to the instructions in Circular No. 14/2016/TTBNNPTNT dated June 2, 2016 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development regulating animal disease-safe areas and facilities.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, ward or town shall arrange for officials with expertise in aquaculture and veterinary medicine to perform and advise on aquaculture tasks and prevent aquatic diseases in the area.
Strictly handle cases that spread disease sources into the environment and do not comply with the procedures and instructions for disease prevention and control of veterinary agencies.
Direct the implementation of canal and ditch dredging work to ensure water supply and drainage.
Conduct periodic and ad hoc disease reports and complete records for the provision and distribution of anti-epidemic chemicals according to regulations.
For communes, wards and towns with aquatic disease outbreaks: Mobilize resources to disinfect the environment at supply and drainage canals. Quickly handle outbreaks to prevent outbreaks and spread.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinates with the Department of Finance to advise the Provincial People's Committee to review and supplement the province's reserve chemical resources to proactively respond to incidents caused by epidemics.

Evaluate and advise on the development of farming objects associated with the natural characteristics of regions.
Organize inspection, examination, direction, guidance and supervision of the implementation of legal regulations in aquaculture.
The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine prepares sufficient supplies and chemicals to promptly handle outbreaks when they occur. Coordinate with the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns to effectively implement aquatic veterinary work according to the provisions of the Veterinary Law and current regulations.
Strictly implement quarantine of aquatic products transported out of the province, focus on inspection and monitoring of diseases and aquatic species raised in the province.
Organize sample collection to monitor aquatic diseases, promptly warn people, thereby providing disease prevention solutions, minimizing damage caused by diseases.
Strengthening the quality inspection of aquatic veterinary drugs in the area, ensuring safe and quality products reach consumers.
