Vinh City requires construction companies to repair decorative lamp posts damaged after storms
(Baonghean.vn) - Vinh City authorities have assessed the current situation and analyzed the cause of the breakage and collapse of a series of decorative lamp posts on Lenin Avenue on the evening of May 17 and directed relevant units to urgently re-construct them.
The tornado caused most of the decorative lamp posts to break right on the median strip. Some of the large arms of the decorative lamp posts collapsed and lay on the road, causing traffic problems for people. The welds of the posts were all broken and the steel bars that supported them were deformed.
According to the Vinh City Urban Management Department, 11 decorative and advertising lamp posts were completely broken, along with many advertising billboards on this route and trees were uprooted.
That same night, Vinh city authorities cleaned up the scene to ensure safety for traffic participants.

According to the initial cause assessment results of Vinh city authorities, a series of decorative lamp posts were broken and fell due to the weak load-bearing structure of the decorative lamp post base (a total of 16 4x4cm square steel bars were used to support the poles), not being able to withstand the force when large storms and tornadoes occurred.

It is known that the above project is invested by Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank - Techcombank (with a total investment of 11 billion VND); was granted Construction License No. 227/GPXD-UBND by Vinh City People's Committee on October 31, 2019, constructed by Viet Anh Company.
Currently, Vinh city has met and requested the contractor to take responsibility for redoing this project.
A representative of Viet Anh Company said that the project was damaged because "the company could not foresee the level of wind being too strong???".

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Viet Duc - Head of Vinh City Urban Management Department said that this project is under construction and has not been handed over, so the construction unit will be responsible for redoing it.
The city will require the contractor to redo the project in early July 2020.
