Mother and son prosecuted for 'producing' and consuming tons of fake MSG
The police have issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Tran Thi Nhung and Vu Hung Tuan for the crime of "Production and trading of counterfeit goods".
On May 24, Dong Da District Police (Hanoi) announced that they had decided to prosecute the case and prosecute Vu Hung Tuan (born in 1978, residing in Nguyen Trai, Ha Dong, Hanoi) and Tran Thi Nhung (born in 1953, residing in Nguyen Trai, Ha Dong) for the crime of "Producing and trading in counterfeit food, foodstuffs, and food additives".

Previously, on May 14, at lane 554 Truong Chinh, Khuong Thuong ward, Dong Da district, the working group of Team 4, Environmental Police Department, Hanoi Police coordinated with the Economic Police Team of Dong Da District Police to conduct an administrative inspection of the pickup truck driven by Vu Hung Tuan.
The authorities discovered 3 boxes of Ajinomoto brand MSG, 1kg/package, and 2 boxes of Ajinomoto brand MSG, 454g/package. None of the MSG had any invoices or documents proving their origin. Upon inspection, the authorities determined that the goods were counterfeit.
During the investigation, Tuan confessed that he was transporting the fake MSG for sale. Based on the suspect's statement, the police searched Tuan's family grocery store at 24 Hoang Hoa Tham, Ha Dong district, and seized more than 1 ton of fake Ajinomoto and Miwon MSG, along with many tools such as welding machines, nylon packaging, 8 bags of MSG with Chinese brands...

During the investigation, the police agency clarified that Tuan's mother, Ms. Tran Thi Nhung, imported MSG of unknown origin and packaged it in nylon bags labeled Ajinomoto and Miwon. Tuan then transported these products to deliver to customers.
The authorities are consolidating the records and handling the subjects according to regulations.
