(Baonghean.vn) - After many days of not being able to contact Mr. Ngo Van Chung in Son Hai commune (Quynh Luu), the victim's family went to the People's Committee of Son Hai commune to report the incident, request local help, and widely post search information on social networks.

Ms. Thai Thi Van (Mr. Chung's wife) in village 5, Son Hai commune, Quynh Luu district said: after celebrating the Lunar New Year of Canh Ty 2020, Mr. Ngo Van Chung (54 years old) started working on a cargo ship of Truong An 125 Company Limited located in An Luu commune, Thuy Nguyen district (Hai Phong). This ship transports coal from the North to the Tra Vinh province thermal power plant, Mr. Chung works as a chef on this ship and is paid 9 million VND/month by the ship owner.

On the evening of May 17, 2020, Mr. Chung called home to ask about his family's health and wish his nephew a happy birthday. A few days later, Mrs. Van called her husband but the phone was busy and she could not reach him. Thinking that her husband was on the sea and had no signal, she tried to wait until the end of the week, but until now she still has not been able to contact him.

“During the more than 3 months of being on a cargo ship, whenever the ship reached shore, he called his family, but for some reason, from May 18 until now, we have not been able to contact Mr. Chung,” said Ms. Van.

As for the family, because they could not contact the victim, relatives called the Company and the captain of the cargo ship (where Mr. Chung worked) directly to inquire and learned that on May 18, Mr. Ngo Van Chung left the cargo ship to catch a bus to Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Tran Van Hai, the nephew of crew member Chung, said: “Because I lost contact with him, I called the company directly and spoke to the captain on the ship. They said that before May 18, crew member Chung wanted to take a day off to go home for medical treatment. The company paid all his wages and called a boat to take him to the pier to catch a bus home. Following the direction, the family contacted a motorbike taxi driver who had taken Mr. Chung. They said that he had bought a ticket at Mien Tay bus station to return to Ho Chi Minh City. On April 22, Mr. Chung called a neighbor to inform him that he was in Ho Chi Minh City. After that call, he has lost contact until now.”

Mr. Chung's family is preparing procedures to go to Ho Chi Minh City to request the police to investigate and announce the search for the missing person./.
