In Nam Son commune, Do Luong district, Lam and Dao rivers flow through, in addition to spillways and many ponds and lakes in residential areas, so there are many risks of drowning every summer. Previously, the commune's Youth Union used a section of a shallow irrigation canal to teach swimming to students. However, teaching swimming in the irrigation canal did not ensure water level and area, so in 2019, Nam Son commune mobilized social resources to build a swimming pool in the commune stadium with a budget of about 150 million VND. Currently, swimming lessons at the new pool are held every afternoon, after school hours. Two physical education teachers from the local primary and secondary schools are in charge of teaching swimming. In addition, youth union members from the hamlets are also present to manage and watch over the children. It is expected that in the near future, the commune will continue to call for resources to build railings, tiles, toilets, shower rooms, etc. to complete the swimming pool. Photo: Duc Anh |
