Ban Ve Hydropower Plant informs people in downstream areas about flood prevention and control plan in 2020
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of June 15, in Tuong Duong district, Ban Ve Hydropower Company held a communication conference about Ban Ve Hydropower.
Attending the conference were representatives of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control; representatives of leaders, departments and branches of Tuong Duong district, and local authorities of downstream communes in Tuong Duong district (including: Yen Na, Luong Minh, Xa Luong, Thach Giam town, Tam Thai, Tam Dinh and Tam Quang).

At the conference, Ban Ve Hydropower Company informed the authorities and people in the downstream area about the following contents: The scale, production and operation situation of Ban Ve Hydropower Plant and the economic and environmental benefits that the plant brings to the locality during its operation; At the same time, it clearly stated the difficulties and challenges in ensuring safe and stable electricity supply, water supply for irrigation to best meet the needs of socio-economic development and people's daily life in the area.

Regarding the flood prevention and control plan for the downstream area of Ban Ve Hydropower Plant in 2020, the company analyzed and clarified the flood discharge notification command at the spillway; locations of loudspeaker warning stations; basic situations and solutions to prevent and avoid floods; introduced evacuation locations for people and property when flooding occurs, and areas affected when the project discharges floodwaters with large flows...

At the conference, representatives of Tuong Duong district leaders acknowledged the efforts to implement reservoir operation procedures, inter-reservoir operation procedures approved by competent authorities, and signed regulations and rules. And hoped that the company would continue to promote and overcome any shortcomings before the 2020 rainy and flood season.

With the opinions of local authorities and people in the downstream area raised at the conference, Mr. Hoang Van Ngoc promised to fully accept them, and committed to remedy and overcome the limitations within the unit's scope of responsibility, to ensure harmony between the factory's goals and issues related to ensuring construction safety and preventing and combating natural disasters.
The Ban Ve Hydropower Plant construction project was approved by the Prime Minister as an investment project in Decision No. 665/QD-TTg dated June 19, 2003 with an installed capacity of 320 MW. The project is built on the Nam Non River, in Yen Na Commune, Tuong Duong District. Construction started on August 7, 2004 with a total investment of VND 7,800 billion. Unit 1 generated electricity on April 10, 2010, Unit 2 generated electricity on May 19, 2010.
By February 2020, the electricity output of Ban Ve Hydropower Plant had reached 10 billion kWh, contributing more than 1,000 billion VND to the State budget.
