95th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day in Nghe An

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association of Nghe An province Tran Duy Ngoan emphasized that during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always considered the press pen a sharp weapon for the revolutionary struggle; the responsibility of journalists is to commit, reflect the thoughts and aspirations of the people to contribute to building an increasingly better life. The team of journalists has made important contributions to the struggle, defending the Fatherland in the past and building the country today.

As of February 2020, the Vietnam Journalists Association has 25,038 members, not to mention thousands of people participating in journalism activities but not yet qualified to join the Association. Nghe An province currently has 69 press agencies, including 7 provincial press agencies and 62 central press representative offices residing in Nghe An. Nghe An's journalism team currently has nearly 700 people, including 350 members in 18 branches; every year, the political and professional quality of the members increases.

Closely following social reality, many journalistic works have clearly demonstrated the responsibility of journalists in the face of social issues and hot spots; launching and building meaningful movements; thereby building trust among the people.

Nghe An Press is proud to contribute much effort, intelligence and enthusiasm to the common success of the province, contributing to the successful implementation of the goals set out by the Resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels, especially in the socio-economic field, and implementing the political tasks of the province.

In order to recognize and honor outstanding authors and works, after 14 years of organization, the annual Nghe An Press Award is also an opportunity to learn and share professional experiences, and to recognize the challenges and difficulties facing Vietnamese revolutionary journalism in the new period.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee sent his solemn congratulations to veteran journalists, reporters, editors, the team of journalists in the province, representatives of press agencies residing in Nghe An province on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day; at the same time, praised and respectfully thanked the contributions of the collective and journalists to the socio-economic development of the province in the past time.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that Nghe An is a locality with vibrant and diverse press activities, contributing to the stability and development of the province.

With many ways, methods, and separate principles and purposes of journalism of each press agency, good people, good deeds, advanced models, emulation movements in labor production, practicing thrift; political events, socio-economic activities, national defense and security of the province; guidelines, policies of the Party and State as well as issues arising in life have been promptly and fully informed on all types of press.

The press has contributed to discovering, proposing, building and perfecting the province's socio-economic development policies, introducing and promoting the image and people of Nghe An, a locality with a tradition of studiousness and great potential for cooperation and investment to domestic localities and international friends. At the same time, the press has played a good role in social criticism and orienting public opinion, creating consensus among the people.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also hopes that the central and local press agencies will continue to perform well in a number of contents to contribute to promoting internal strength, attracting external strength, strongly arousing the spirit of solidarity and unity of all classes of people in the province to promote the development of the province.

On this occasion, comrades: Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded prizes and Certificates of Merit to the authors who won the prize of the Contest on the theme "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style" phase 2, period 2018 - 2019 organized by the Central Propaganda Department.

The ceremony also awarded the 15th Nghe An Press Award. The award had the participation of 20 press units with a total of over 100 works participating in the award. These are all works that closely follow the political tasks of the province, sectors and localities in 2019, promptly, vividly and diversely reflecting the economic, political, security and defense situation of the province and the country.

The organizing committee of Nghe An Press Award selected 28 excellent works to win prizes with 5 Second prizes, 10 Third prizes and 13 Encouragement prizes; awarded the Medal for the Cause of Vietnamese Journalism to 29 comrades.
