(Baonghean.vn) - Western Nghe An often evokes in people's minds the scene of undulating mountains, steep passes, and mist-covered villages. But when setting foot on this land, visitors from afar will have a different view and impression. The majesty of the vast landscape, streams and streams like dreamy drawings and the love of the land and people is as strong as wine.

By the Giang River and the Pu Mat Forest

Western Nghe An is a large area, accounting for more than 2/3 of the province's total area, and is home to ethnic groups: Kinh, Thai, Tho, Kho Mu and Mong... Along with the potential for agricultural and forestry production, this place is forming interesting destinations for tourists to freely experience and explore the life in the forest. That is, besides fields and swidden fields, people are making efforts to awaken and stimulate the potential for developing ecotourism and community tourism.

Let’s start from the Southwest region, where the Nam Non and Nam Mo rivers converge to form the romantic and poetic Lam River. There is the Giang River, like a silk strip winding through the Pu Mat forest, with villages resounding with songs and the bustling sound of gongs.

Located more than 100 km from Vinh city, in recent years Con Cuong has been known to tourists from near and far as a countryside with many famous landscapes and rich cultural identity. The Giang River also originates from here, both fierce with many dangerous waterfalls and rapids, and gentle like the beauty of a young girl in her twenties. On summer days, immersing yourself in the Giang River water, the heat of the land and sky and all the worries and sorrows of daily life seem to disappear. Only the cool water and an unusually relaxing feeling remain.

Take a boat upstream to admire the majestic scenery of the great forest, overcome rapids to find thrills and admire the boatman's skills. The source is the residence of the Dan Lai people with a tragic legend, and the custom of sleeping sitting is a vivid proof. Coming here, visitors can freely observe and learn about the daily life of the "sitting sleeping" people, go to the river with the people to cast nets, grill shrimp and fish while they are still fresh.

It must be added that, in addition to its captivating beauty, Giang River also has a famous specialty called "mèt" fish. This fish species is only used to living in a cool and clean water environment, eating algae, so its meat is always fragrant and delicious. Mèt" fish can be grilled, boiled, braised, fried or made into soup, each preparation method has its own appeal, enjoying it once will be remembered forever. Therefore, since ancient times, the people of Muong Qua have passed down the song "Muong Qua rice, Giang River fish" to position the culinary brand.

Besides Giang River, Con Cuong also has Khe Kem waterfall (Luc Da) and Khe Nuoc Moc (Yen Khe) which are also ideal "cooling off" spots on hot days. Khe Nuoc Moc is the point where the underground stream overflows, so the water is clear and cool. Khe Kem waterfall is where the water flows down from a cliff tens of meters high, creating a majestic scene. Having the opportunity to stand at the foot of the waterfall will be extremely refreshing with a cool feeling.

Con Cuong is also a long-standing residence of the Thai people, many villages still retain their ancient atmosphere with neat stilt houses, green palm gardens and weaving frames in front of the porch. In particular, ancient customs are still passed down, folk songs, folk dances and folk music are still preserved. Traditional dishes such as bamboo rice, five-color sticky rice, mooc sausage and wine, and wine made from fermented leaves are still fragrant. Khe Ran village (Bong Khe), Nua village (Yen Khe) and Xieng village (Mon Son) have become attractive destinations for tourists to experience and explore. People have been and are getting used to the way of doing community tourism, services are gradually being professionalized.
