'Double the difficulty, we strive three times harder, no hesitation, no retreat'

(Baonghean.vn) - That was the emphasis of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at an online conference with localities on the socio-economic situation on July 2.

On the afternoon of July 2, the Government's online conference with localities, assessing the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year; deploying tasks for the last 6 months of 2020, continued to take place under the chairmanship of Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Politburo member, Prime Minister at the Hanoi bridge.

The conference continued to listen to the Ministers of the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, Industry and Trade, and Public Security; the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam evaluate the implementation of tasks in the first 6 months of the year, key tasks in the last 6 months of the year, and respond to opinions of provinces and cities.

Comrades: Tran Thanh Man - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Nguyen Van Giau - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee also spoke to acknowledge the Government's leadership and management in implementing the dual goals in the past time, and at the same time proposed a number of contents to the Government.

The Deputy Prime Ministers also made speeches requesting localities to effectively implement contents such as: promoting disbursement of public investment capital, ODA, implementing regional planning;...

After a working day, concluding the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested to continue monitoring to prevent the risk of epidemics, and at the same time seize opportunities so that the Government can have more timely and appropriate policies in the spirit of "both defending against the Covid-19 epidemic and attacking on the economic front". If we are subjective in any aspect, we will not succeed. With that viewpoint, the Ministry of Planning and Investment needs to have a specific growth scenario for the third and fourth quarters of 2020.

“The spirit is to double the difficulty, we strive three times harder, not to falter, not to retreat,” the Prime Minister pointed out and emphasized that the whole country joins hands to build the country. Sectors and levels coordinate closely, operate effectively and have specific measures to remove difficulties. Each ministry and locality establishes a steering committee and working group to regularly review, remove and urge, especially to remove public investment and current institutional and policy obstacles.

In front of the leaders of central ministries, branches and localities, the head of the Government gave some key directions. First of all, it is determined not to let the Covid-19 epidemic return, this is a prerequisite for sustainable economic recovery and development.

In addition, to recover and develop the economy, it is necessary to prioritize solutions to develop production and business, promote growth, create jobs and income; operate fiscal and monetary policies more proactively, flexibly and effectively, stimulate aggregate demand, promote appropriate economic growth, while maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation below 4%, ensuring major balances of the economy, and strengthening foreign investors' confidence.

The Prime Minister also requested effective support for all business sectors and economic sectors; appropriate mechanisms, policies and solutions to strongly stimulate the main growth drivers of the economy; and the resilience, dynamism and creativity of the private economy, cooperatives, individual business households and craft villages must be promoted.

Along with that, key regions and large cities must be the locomotives. All levels and sectors must promote administrative reform, improve the investment and business environment; focus on policies to ensure social security and people's lives; continue to implement anti-corruption and waste prevention; ensure national defense and security, strengthen foreign affairs; maintain political security, social order and safety, associated with serving the good organization of Party congresses at all levels towards the 13th National Party Congress.

On that basis, the Prime Minister outlined key tasks for the last 6 months of the year and assigned specific tasks to ministries, branches and localities.

In particular, it is necessary to promote the disbursement of public investment capital; the banking system needs to continue to share with businesses; the construction industry and key projects need to be strongly promoted; continue to promote and develop tourism with the viewpoint of "reducing prices but not reducing quality"; improve national competitiveness and the investment environment; continue to bring Vietnamese citizens abroad back to the country...

"The Government and the Prime Minister have stated one policy, I request that the Ministers, Secretaries, and Chairmen have ten measures," the Prime Minister said at the end of the conference.
