Vinh City urgently fights flooding before the 2020 flood season
(Baonghean.vn) - To prevent flooding this year, Vinh city will connect and dredge Vinh market area, surrounding areas and renovate some roads and pumping stations.
Continuously in 2018 and 2019, Vinh city was deeply flooded after heavy rains. Flooding has become a constant concern for people during the rainy season.

To proactively prevent flooding in the city during the 2020 rainy and stormy season, the city is implementing solutions step by step: Dredging and expanding the self-flowing sluice gate at Cau Tri bridge pumping station; installing about 200 water collection pits to prevent flooding and prevent odors to drain water during the upcoming rainy season. Vinh City assigns individual units that contract to raise fish in regulating lakes to be proactive and responsible for clearing the discharge gates of regulating lakes when there is heavy rain.
Another solution is to connect and dredge the Vinh market area and surrounding areas. In addition, the city will upgrade the Southwest Pumping Station with a total flow of 18,660m3/h up to 27,990m3/h(add 03 pumps); Southern pumping station total flow 57,000m3/h up to 76,000m3/h(add 02 pumps),renovate the water tank before the pump and the energy dissipation tank after the pump;Cau Tri Ben Thuy pumping station total flow 20,100m3/h up to 30,150m3/h(add 03 pumps),renovation of water tank before pump and energy dissipation tank after pump...

Mr. Nguyen Viet Duc - Head of Vinh City Urban Management Department said: Since May, the city has directed the Urban Infrastructure Management and Development Joint Stock Company to organize dredging of collection pits, manholes, and level I and II canals; directed the People's Committees of wards and communes to organize dredging of level III canals, and mobilized people to dredge intra-block and intra-hamlet canals.
At the same time, renovate a number of ditches along important streets such as Lenin Avenue, Le Hong Phong, Hoang Phan Thai, build a drainage system north of Nguyen Sy Sach... to be ready to prevent flooding in the 2020 rainy season.

According to the Management Board of the Integrated Drainage and Wastewater Management Project for the cities of Can Tho, Vinh, and Hai Duong (Vietnam), to prevent flooding in Vinh city, the following solutions need to be implemented:
First: Embankment, dredging Vinh river wastewater pipeline.
The second is to upgrade the central drainage system of Vinh, invest in a level II drainage system for Quan Bau ward and Nghi Phu commune.
Third is to build Rao Dung drainage pumping station and expand Hung Hoa wastewater treatment plant.
Fourth, it is necessary to dredge and upgrade the main drainage channels in Vinh city: channel 1, channel 2, channel 3, Hong Bang channel, and Dong Vinh channel.
Fifth, invest in the main drainage pumping station system south of the regulating lake and Rao Dung river.
