(Baonghean.vn) - A young couple in the orange capital of Quy Hop (Nghe An) invested hundreds of millions of dong to plant and care for their orange garden. Just before harvest time, it burned down.

Leading into an orange garden that was suspected to have been set on fire by a bad person, most of the trees were like dry branches, fruits were scattered all over the roots... Mr. Vo Van Thanh (born in 1985) in Minh Chua hamlet, Minh Hop commune, Quy Hop district (Nghe An) sadly said: At noon on July 15, hearing relatives report that the orange garden was on fire, the couple rushed in but the fire had spread to almost the entire orange garden with an area of ​​8 sao.

Suspecting that someone had set fire to the orange garden, that same afternoon, Mr. Thanh and his wife filed a petition requesting the authorities to investigate.

According to the family's statistics, out of a total of 186 orange trees, 156 were burned, of which 80 were completely burned and could not be restored. "Before that, the family sprayed weed killer, so all the weeds in the orange garden dried up and burned, causing the fire to flare up strongly," said Mr. Thanh.

"Last year, the family harvested more than 3 tons of Xa Doai oranges with golden hearts, earning over 70 million VND. This year, Mr. Thanh expects the 156 burnt trees to yield about 4.5 tons of oranges. The estimated loss is over 90 million VND, not including 4 years of investment in care, 50 million VND per year," Mr. Vo Van Thanh said with a choked voice.

Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Nghia Tu - Deputy Head of Quy Hop District Police said: Immediately after the incident, the district police sent forces to coordinate with local authorities to make a record, examine the scene, and find the cause of the fire.

This is the first orange garden fire in Quy Hop district. The fire has caused great economic damage to the people. Currently, the district police continue to send forces to the area, along with the victim's family to investigate.
