(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, on the morning of July 25, a delegation of the Ministry of Transport offered incense and flowers to commemorate the heroic martyrs at Truong Bon Historical Site and the Road 7 - Truong Ke Martyrs Cemetery.

Truong Bon historical relic site - the resting place of 1,240 officers and soldiers who bravely fought and heroically sacrificed to protect the Truong Bon traffic artery. Among them, there is a mass grave of 13 Youth Volunteers of the “Steel Squad”, belonging to the 317th Youth Volunteer Company of Nghe An who sacrificed their lives while on duty on October 31, 1968.

During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, National Highway 15A - where Truong Bon is located - was a particularly important strategic location, connecting the North - South traffic arteries.

Truong Bon became the fire coordinate in the escalating bombings of the US imperialists in the North of our country. Here, with the spirit of uprising and strong will, the army and people of Nghe An fought bravely. Many people died to protect the smooth route, including the Youth Volunteer Force and cadres and workers of the Transport sector.

Offering fresh flower baskets and incense sticks, Minister Nguyen Van The and the delegation of the Ministry of Transport and leaders of Nghe An province expressed their respect, admiration and deep gratitude to the heroes who "died for the Fatherland".

On the same morning, the working delegation led by Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho offered flowers and incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the Road 7 - Truong Ke Martyrs Cemetery in My Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District.

The cemetery is the resting place of 454 martyrs of the transport industry who died in the resistance war against America.

Offering fresh flower baskets and incense sticks, the delegation members expressed their respect to the souls of the heroes - those who did not hesitate to shed their blood and sacrifice their youth to keep the roads open, serving the resistance war to save the country, regaining independence and freedom for the nation.
