Passenger carrying bird cage in taxi, driver pulls out knife and seriously stabs passenger
Due to a conflict when a passenger brought a bird cage in the trunk of the car, the taxi driver stabbed the passenger in the back, causing injury, then quickly fled the scene.
Late on August 1, Buon Ma Thuot City Police, Dak Lak Province were still conducting a crime scene investigation to clarify the cause of the incident in which a taxi driver stabbed a passenger, causing injury.
The victim was identified as Le Nguyen Thanh (born in 1970), residing in village 3, Cu Ebur commune, Buon Ma Thuot city.
According to Mr. Le Thanh Toan (Mr. Thanh’s younger brother), at around 5:15 p.m. the same day, Mr. Thanh called a taxi from Quyet Tien to move from his father’s house in Cu Ebur commune to the city center. At that time, Mr. Thanh brought a bird cage and asked the driver to open the trunk to put it in.

“Because the driver was afraid that the water in the bird cage would spill out and make a mess, Mr. Thanh poured all the water out and put it in the trunk. However, when both of them got in the car to move, they had an argument. Therefore, Mr. Thanh suggested not taking the car anymore and decided to call another taxi. When Mr. Thanh was opening the trunk to take out the bird cage, the driver pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the back, then threw the knife away and fled the scene,” Mr. Toan recounted.
Mr. Thanh was taken to Buon Ma Thuot City General Hospital by his family for emergency treatment.

Late that day, talking with Mr. Khong Manh Vo - CEO of Quyet Tien taxi company, he said he had received information about the incident.
“Immediately after receiving the information, I sent company staff to the scene to gather information, coordinate with the Investigation Agency to clarify the cause, and at the same time send staff to share with the victim's family about this incident,” said Mr. Vo.
The case is being investigated and clarified by Buon Ma Thuot City Police.
