Many roads in Nghe An were eroded after storm No. 2
(Baonghean.vn) - Due to the impact of storm No. 2, continuous heavy rain in recent days has caused landslides and rocks to bury some roads in the mountainous districts of Nghe An.

National Highway 16 is a nearly 150 km long arterial road connecting National Highways 48 and 7 between Ky Son and Que Phong districts (Nghe An) and is currently experiencing many landslides. In the Pa Khom village area of Tri Le commune, Que Phong, the positive slope landslide caused rocks and soil to overflow onto the road surface for about 300 m.3causing traffic insecurity
Mr. Vi Van Cuong - Chairman of Tri Le People's Committee said: Tri Le commune's local government has coordinated with the Traffic Management Unit to use barricades to guard both ends of the landslide to prevent vehicles from passing. At the same time, the Traffic Unit has mobilized excavators to scoop up the landslide and rocks that buried the road. As of this morning, the landslide and rocks have been cleared to ensure safe traffic on National Highway 16.

In Nam Nhoong commune, landslides occurred at several inter-village roads. The commune mobilized people to use hoes and shovels to clear the roads.
According to the report of the Department of Transport, National Highway 16 alone has 4 landslides including km 296+730 (Tri Le commune, Que Phong district) with a 30 meter landslide on the positive slope. At Bac Ly commune, Ky Son district, there was a landslide at km 364+400, a 35 meter landslide on the negative slope. At km 402+200, the negative slope landslide was about 50 meters long on the edge of the asphalt road, and at km 402+10, the negative slope landslide was 10 meters long.

There are 2 provincial roads with some landslides, including route 543 C with some small positive slope landslides. Provincial road 544 at Km7+500 (Chau Thon commune, Que Phong district) has a bridge abutment, the old spillway collapsed, and some negative slope landslides.
Nghe An Department of Transport has directed traffic management units to coordinate with local districts to mobilize machinery to level and fix landslides. It is expected that by this morning, August 4, all landslide-affected traffic routes will be handled in time to ensure traffic flow for people and vehicles.

In the mountainous district of Ky Son, heavy rain lasted for many hours, causing serious landslides on a number of roads in the area.
Specifically, on the route from the center of Muong Xen town and border communes such as Ta Ca, Mung Tip, Muong Ai, many sections have landslides, rocks and soil from above have flowed down onto the road, including large rocks rolling down and blocking the middle of the road, many spots have been eroded by streams, causing difficulties for people and vehicles to travel.

To overcome the damage caused by floods, the Standing Committee of Ky Son District Party Committee has established a working group to inspect and develop a plan to overcome the damage caused by floods.
In Ta Ca commune, Ky Son district, officials, militia and people were mobilized to move medium and small rocks off the road surface to help people travel safely.
In Muong Tip commune, the district also directed functional forces to set up checkpoints at intersections between streams and roads to support people and vehicles when crossing streams, avoiding damage to people and property.

For landslides and riverbank landslides, the Department of Transport has directed relevant units to set up lookouts and have guards at the locations to ensure safety for people and vehicles passing through.
