(Baonghean.vn) - According to the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province, due to heavy rain, 3 small hydropower plants have reported plans to release floodwaters. Of which, Ban Ang hydropower plant will release floodwaters at 6:20 p.m. on August 2, Chau Thang at 7:10 p.m. and Nam Mo is expected to release floodwaters at 11 p.m. tonight.
This afternoon, August 2, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province issued Notice No. 88/TB-PCTT on the operation of flood discharge at Chau Thang hydropower reservoir (in Muong Noc commune, Que Phong district.

Accordingly, to ensure the safe operation of Chau Thang Hydropower Reservoir in accordance with the procedures approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Managing Company announced the flood discharge at 6:00 p.m. on August 2, 2020, with a total discharge flow of 70m3/s to 500m3/s (including the discharge flow through the valve gate and the power generation flow through the generators). The end of the flood discharge will be when the impact of storm No. 2 and the storm circulation ends.
However, in reality, Chau Thang Hydropower Plant released 123 m of water.3/s at 19:10 on August 2, 2020, later than expected.

Also according to a quick report from the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province, Nam Mo hydropower plant is expected to discharge floodwater at 11pm tonight (August 2), with a total discharge volume of about 120m3/s to 500m3/s (including water discharge through generators, spillways and sand discharge culverts).
