Single mother terrorized twice by gang of thugs using gasoline
(Baonghean.vn) - Hired by a person living abroad to threaten a single mother for 20 million VND because of sexual jealousy, Hoa invited his accomplices to buy gasoline to terrorize her.
On August 11, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial to try Tran Ngoc Hoa (born in 1989), residing in Dien Tho commune, Dien Chau district, for the crimes of property destruction and intentional injury; Thai Ba Tinh (born in 1991), residing in Dien Tho commune, for the crime of property destruction; and Cao Hung (born in 1990), residing in Dien Tho commune, for the crime of failure to report a crime.
According to investigation documents, around mid-June 2019, through social media, Hoa met a woman named Hoang (currently living abroad). Suspecting that Ms. Dinh Thi H. (residing in Nghi My commune, Nghi Loc district) had an affair with her ex-husband, Hoang hired Hoa to threaten her for 20 million VND.

Hoa agreed, so on the afternoon of June 20, 2019, he invited his friend Thai Ba Tinh to Ms. H's place and punched her in the head, causing the woman to panic and run away.
Seeing that the damage caused before was not much, on the evening of July 19, 2019, Hoa continued to prepare 2.5 liters of gasoline, 4 mini gas tanks, a piece of parachute cord and asked Cao Hung to "take him to work".
Upon arrival, Hoa tied a rope around the mouth of the gasoline can and the mini gas cylinders that were glued around the can, lit it on fire, and threw the gasoline can in front of the grocery store. At this time, Ms. H. had just walked out when both of her legs were burned. Ms. H. quickly ran into the bathroom to put out the fire and at the same time brought her two children out through the back door.
As a result, Ms. H. suffered 15% physical injury, a house, water pump, 2 motorbikes, groceries and all household items burned down with a total value of nearly 530 million VND.
At the trial, the defendants admitted to their crimes. Defendant Hoa said he did the above things as hired by a woman named Hoang in exchange for 20 million VND. Hung said he did not know Hoa’s intentions and only drove her when a friend asked him to.
Considering the case as a whole, the court sentenced Tran Ngoc Hoa to 12 years in prison, Thai Ba Tinh to 8 months in prison, and Cao Hung to 9 months of non-custodial reform. Regarding the civil part, the court ordered Hung to compensate the victim more than 600 million VND, and Tinh to compensate the victim 2.5 million VND.
