Valedictorian of Informatics at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and the dream of becoming a 'programmer'
(Baonghean.vn) - With a total score of 19/20, Tran Thanh Dat, a student of Nghia Thuan Secondary School, Thai Hoa town, became the valedictorian of the specialized IT class at Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School for the 2020-2021 school year.
Over the past few days, many neighbors, friends, and teachers have come to Tran Thanh Dat's family to congratulate him on his excellent performance in passing the Computer Science exam at Phan Boi Chau High School. Dat said the results surprised him, especially the Computer Science subject with a score of 19.

Dat said: “Although this year's exam was quite suitable for me, in question 3, which was about programming to solve math problems, I made a mistake when solving large numbers, so I lost 1 point in this exercise, so I couldn't get a perfect score. But I was very happy and surprised at the result, because this was the result of my whole process of self-study and research...”.

Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted enrolls students in the IT class, which has opened up opportunities and motivation for many candidates who share a passion for IT. However, students in rural schools always face many difficulties in trying out a new field of knowledge. Even at Nghia Thuan Secondary School where Thanh Dat studies, students only have access to basic knowledge of this subject in the first year of secondary school.
Dat said that since his junior high school years, he has had a passion and love for computers, especially Information Technology. Whenever he sits at the computer, he is extremely excited and interested in exploring and discovering programming methods to create new applications... With the dream of becoming a programmer, when he encounters unclear knowledge, he often asks friends and teachers for more information. In addition, the school also supports and creates conditions for him to improve his knowledge.

Dat also participated in online IT competitions, from which he learned a lot of theory and practice. Thanks to his own efforts and determination, along with the help of his teachers, in grade 9 Dat received the Encouragement Prize at the Nghe An Province Youth IT Competition in 2020. In addition, he also achieved the titles of Excellent Student at the town level and Excellent Student for 9 consecutive years. "IT is a new subject for many students. In addition to the time spent in class with teachers' guidance, I mainly self-study through websites on the internet" - Dat shared more.
Also because of his outstanding academic ability in the subject of Information Technology, Dat was encouraged by his teachers to take the entrance exam to the 10th grade specialized in Information Technology at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.
Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Anh - IT teacher at Nghia Thuan Secondary School said: "What impresses me most about my student is his clear goals and direction, and he always knows how to arrange his time reasonably. With his determination and passion for IT, I believe Dat will continue to go far in the future."

As a Biology teacher, Ms. Doan Thuong - Dat's mother, said: "Since he was little, he has had a passion for computers, so his parents have created the best conditions for him and have not put pressure on him to study.
