"On August 31, the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the Russian Federation P. Priputen was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry and expressed strong protest regarding the groundless expulsion of three diplomatic staff of the Russian Embassy in Slovakia in August this year. We consider this unfriendly step by Bratislava to be contrary to the traditional spirit of constructive development of relations between our countries," the Russian Foreign Ministry website writes, adding:

"The Ambassador was informed that the Russian side, based on the principle of reciprocity, decided to expel three diplomatic staff of the Slovak Embassy in Moscow from the Russian Federation."

Earlier, the Slovakian Foreign Ministry announced the expulsion of three Russian diplomats, claiming that these people had acted in violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
