(Baonghean.vn) - To proactively respond to storm No. 5, coastal districts of Nghe An are focusing on calling on offshore fishing boats to return to safe storm shelters.

As soon as there was a telegram to deal with the stormstorm no. 5, Quynh Luu District People's Committee directed coastal communes to urgently call on ships operating at sea to return to safe shelters.

Quynh Luu district currently has nearly 1,200 vessels, including more than 700 offshore fishing vessels owned by fishermen from Tien Thuy, Quynh Long, Quynh Nghia, Son Hai communes... As of the morning of September 18, all offshore and coastal fishing vessels have returned to anchor and take shelter at Lach Quen and Lach Thoi fishing ports (Quynh Luu).

Mr. Dau Duc Nam - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said: Fishing boats have returned to shore, the district requires localities to go to the boat anchorage area to instruct fishermen on how to prevent and avoid collisions with boats when there are big waves and strong winds. Coordinate with Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station to strictly manage fishing boats entering and leaving the port, not allowing any boats to go out to sea to fish when the weather is not favorable.

The leader of the Economic - Infrastructure Department of Hoang Mai town informed that by this morning (September 18), 100% of local fishermen's fishing boats had returned to shore and anchored safely.

Closely monitor warning and forecast bulletins on mass media, check and review PCTT-TKCN plans; maintain personnel and equipment on duty according to regulations to be ready to respond when required.

As of 5:00 a.m. on September 18, 3,299 vessels had returned to safe anchorage. There were still 84 vessels operating at sea. All of the above vessels had received notice of the location and direction of storm No. 5 and were proactively taking precautions.

The Nghe An Border Guard Command has also directed units on the land border to proactively guard against flash floods and landslides, especially in key areas and epidemic prevention and control checkpoints on the border./.
