Vinh City (Nghe An) recognized by UNESCO as 'global learning city'
Vinh City (Nghe An) and Sa Dec City (Dong Thap) were recognized by UNESCO for implementing lifelong learning at the local level.
In a statement released on September 23, the organizationUNESCOVietnam has two cities participating in the Cities Network.global learning(GNLC), along with 53 other cities from 27 countries.
Accordingly,Vinh city(Nghe An) and Sa Dec City (Dong Thap) were recognized for their achievements as exemplary in applying lifelong learning at the local level.
“These cities have demonstrated that effective lifelong learning policies and practices can support the development of inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities,” according to UNESCO.

According to Mr. David Atchoarena - Director of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), the Covid-19 pandemic has shown the need to build more resilient education systems in the future. Meanwhile, with more than half of the global population living in urban areas, cities must become the focus.
“I warmly welcome Vinh City and Sa Dec, along with other new members to the GNLC, and look forward to working with them towards the goal of ensuringlifelong learningfor everyone,” he shared.
