On the morning of October 1, Vinh City People's Committee held a meeting to assess the flooding situation in Vinh City and discuss solutions to prevent flooding in vulnerable areas when heavy rains continue.
Comrade Tran Ngoc Tu - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of Vinh City People's Committee chaired the meeting.
Over time,Vinh Cityhas focused resources on investing in the construction and renovation of a number of roads and drainage systems in the city such as: Le Nin Street Canal, Nguyen Sy Sach Street Canal; renovating and upgrading the following roads: Hoang Phan Thai, Ly Tu Trong, Nguyen Quoc Tri, Kim Dong...
However, during the last two heavy rains, there was still flooding in some areas in wards and communes such as: Hung Binh, Hong Son, Vinh Tan, Le Mao, Le Loi, Hung Dung, Cua Nam, Nghi Kim, Nghi Phu... Of which, there are 11 points that are often flooded for a long time including: Nai bridge area, ditch number 2; Nguyen Van Cu street, Truong Thi street, Nguyen Son street; North of Nguyen Thai Hoc street; Xo Viet Nghe Tinh street; hamlets 1, 2, 3, 13a, 13b, 14, 15, Nghi Kim commune; blocks 10, 11, Dang Thai Than street; Vinh market area, Hung Dung market.

Meanwhile, some ditches are clogged, with small apertures, creating bottlenecks; some roads do not have water collection pits to collect surface water directly into the ditches. Many roads do not have sewers and drainage ditches; the covered ditches do not collect water well... causing prolonged flooding.
Concluding the meeting, comrade Tran Ngoc Tu - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that the long-standing flooding situation in Vinh City is a burning and urgent problem today. In the immediate future, it is necessary to focus on overcoming the internal causes of flooding in each area, specifically, such as dredging clogged canals and manholes; installing and connecting canals that have not been connected to the main canal system...
