The robber abandoned his motorbike while being chased by dozens of police officers.
Tran Van Manh Hung, 24 years old, robbed a female student's phone in Can Loc district but was chased by dozens of police officers.
On the evening of October 3rd, Hung, residing in Thuong Nga commune, was being held in temporary custody by the Can Loc District Police (Ha Tinh province) for criminal investigation.Robbery, according to Article 168 of the 2015 Penal Code.

According to the investigation results, at approximately 8 PM on October 2nd, on a rural road in Can Loc district, Hung spotted two 7th-grade female students riding an electric motorbike, one of whom was holding a phone. He chased after them, approached them closely, and then robbed them.
At that time, the Can Loc District Police were on patrol when they heard the cries for help from the two victims, so they mobilized more than 30 officers to pursue the suspect. Seeing the police, Hung abandoned his motorbike at the scene and fled into the village road.

The Can Loc District Police then posted information about the incident on Facebook, asking the public to help locate Hung; describing the suspect as 1.65 m tall, thin, with thick, slightly curly hair. At 4 PM on October 3rd, Hung was arrested by the police while hiding at Bo Bo slope, Vinh Phu village, Phu Loc commune, about 3 km from the initial crime scene.
Hung confessed that, using a similar method, he robbed a girl riding a motorbike of her phone on the evening of October 1st. Authorities determined that the stolen property in the two robberies was worth approximately 22 million VND.
