Mr. Le Hoi Hung - Director of Doan Ket Cooperative in Quynh Lap commune (town)Hoang Mai) said: The cooperative has 30 cold storages, specializing in freezing seafood products; anchovies, spotted fish, squid... with a reserve of 3,000 tons. Most of the cooperative's frozen seafood was previouslyexport to china

However, since the Covid-19 pandemic, China has stopped importing seafood, causing frozen goods to be in stock with increasing quantities.

Although the cooperative is looking for every solution to consume domestic seafood, the inventory is still large. Currently, there are still about 2,000 tons.

"Never before has there been so much frozen seafood in stock. Goods cannot be exported, so we have to find ways to consume domestically, and prices have to be reduced by 20-25%" - Mr. Le Hoi Hung shared.

In Tam Tien hamlet, Quynh Lap commune (Hoang Mai town), there are 5 cold storages in the same situation.

Quynh Nghia Commune (Quynh Luu) has many seafood freezers. The owner of a seafood freezer here said that his family's freezer can store nearly 300 tons of seafood. Previously, the facility specialized in exporting to China, Korea, Malaysia... However, since the Covid-19 epidemic appeared inChinaand many countries in the world, so the family's seafood export faces many difficulties.

Because seafood exports are facing difficulties, freezing facilities are always full, causing seafood prices to drop during the time when many fishing boats return.

Currently, in Nghe An, there are more than 300 seafood freezing warehouses, concentrated in Quynh Luu, Dien Chau districts, Hoang Mai town, Cua Lo town... with a total capacity of tens of thousands of tons. Through research, it is known that the freezing facilities specializing in domestic consumption do not have large inventory levels; for freezing facilities specializing in exporting to foreign countries, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, it is difficult to sell, and the amount of goods in inventory is too large.
