Farmers in Quynh Luu (Nghe An) are actively pursuing wealth creation.
(Baonghean.vn) - With dynamism and a strong work ethic, farmers in Quynh Luu district (Nghe An province) have created many high-value economic products that are accepted by the market. The district has 72 farm economic models and 200 family farms engaged in livestock and crop cultivation, bringing high incomes to families.
The dynamic farmers of Quynh Luu
Quynh Luong commune is the largest vegetable farming area in the coastal region of Quynh Luu district. The farmers here have extensive experience in intensive farming.vegetablesEvery year, the area supplies a large quantity of vegetables and fruits to the market. Mr. Pham Dinh Hai from Hamlet 5, Quynh Luong Commune, said: "With a tradition of intensive vegetable cultivation, the locality has products to sell to the market all year round. For my family, on an area of 14 square meters of land, we rotate 3-4 vegetable crops each year, earning a profit of about 40 million VND."

Chairman of the Farmers' Association of the communeQuynh LuongAccording to Mr. Le Van Thanh, the locality has 185 hectares of arable land, specializing in intensive cultivation of various vegetables and fruits, of which 20 hectares have been recognized as VietGAP-certified production areas. With seasonal produce, the vegetable production area consistently supplies markets both within and outside the province year-round, leading to increasingly stable livelihoods for farmers.
In the commune, there is a team of traders who specialize in buying vegetables from farmers and transporting them for consumption throughout the country, so farmers can produce with peace of mind. Farmers now not only explore and introduce new crops into production, but also invest in installing automatic irrigation systems, reducing investment costs and bringing higher economic efficiency.
The movement "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" is increasingly developing in scale and effectiveness in Quynh Luu district. Many farmers, with their dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit, have created products with high economic value that are accepted by the market. A typical example is the productherbal chicken eggsby farmer Le Van Duong in Quynh Bang commune.

Mr. Duong said: "Thanks to the support of the Farmers' Association at all levels, and after researching various sources of information, I realized that raising chickens to lay eggs with herbal feed has high nutritional value and higher economic efficiency compared to regular chickens. Therefore, in 2018, I invested nearly 4 billion VND to switch to raising chickens with herbal feed for egg production. With a scale of 7,000 laying hens of the Egyptian breed, I supply 60,000 eggs to the market each month. The eggs from these herbal-fed chickens are of good quality and trusted by consumers. In the future, I will expand the scale of my farming, striving to supply 130,000 eggs to the market each month."
It is known that currently, the Farmers' Associations at all levels in Quynh Luu district have established 72 farm economic models and 200 family farms engaged in livestock and crop cultivation, bringing high income to families. In addition, farmers in the district have expanded the area for industrial shrimp farming, including whiteleg shrimp farming, to over 400 hectares, yielding high economic efficiency. As a result, more and more member families are becoming successful producers and business owners, serving as exemplary models of economic development in the locality.
Enhancing farmers' knowledge
Looking back over the past five years, it is evident that, in order to help its members and farmers produce effectively, the Quynh Luu District Farmers' Association has innovated the content and form of propaganda, mobilization, and exchange of knowledge and experience in production, while also understanding the thoughts and aspirations and clearly identifying the causes of poverty and difficulties faced by farmers.
The association also collaborates with organizations and businesses to support farmers with knowledge, techniques, seeds, and agricultural supplies. It organizes visits to model farms for its members to help them develop highly efficient production. It also organizes vocational training classes and effectively implements models for members and farmers to learn from and replicate.

“The key issue that the Association has identified is paying special attention to the knowledge of its members. When members have knowledge, everything they do is more likely to succeed, especially in economic development. Next is doing a good job in promoting the movement, because when the movement at all levels of the association is stimulated, it will create enthusiasm for each member to participate.”
A notable achievement over the past five years is the Association's guidance in establishing two professional farmers' branches, sixteen professional farmers' groups, four cooperatives, and three agricultural service cooperatives. This has facilitated mutual support among farmers in livestock breeding, crop cultivation, farming skills and experience, and the purchase of machinery to introduce mechanization into production. Practical experience has shown that professional farmers' groups act as facilitators and bridges, connecting farmers to increasingly diverse and abundant household and market-based economic activities.
Local associations in the district have also actively participated in the "Building New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas" program by contributing and donating tens of thousands of square meters of land, buildings, and labor to expand, upgrade, and maintain thousands of meters of rural roads and dredge irrigation canals. Cadres and members also participate in the criteria they are the main actors in building new rural areas, such as health insurance and building culturally exemplary families, contributing to Quỳnh Lưu district achieving many successes in implementing the National Target Program for building new rural areas.
