(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An province currently has many locations warned of the risk of flash floods and landslides, mainly located in 6 districts: Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Quy Chau, Que Phong, Quy Hop, Con Cuong.

According to the report of the Irrigation Department, Nghe An province currently has 280 warning points of flood risks.flash floodsin 6 mountainous districts. Of which, 17 communes are at risk of especially dangerous flash floods, affecting 2,575 households with over 15,000 people who need to be evacuated when floods occur.

Accordingly, Ky Son district has the communes of Muong Tip, Muong Ai, My Ly, Na Ngoi, Nam Can, Keng Du. Tuong Duong district includes the communes of Yen Tinh, Yen Na, Nga My, Xieng My, Mai Son, Luu Kien. Que Phong district includes the communes of Tri Le, Thong Thu, Nam Giai, Nam Nhoong, Quang Phong.

Mr. Phan Trong Dung, head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Que Phong district, said: Through a survey, Que Phong district currently has about 300 households in areas at risk of flash floods and landslides. Before the rainy season, Que Phong district has developed a plan to prevent flash floods and landslides. Warnings are issued about areas at risk of flash floods so that localities and people can proactively take preventive measures.

Communes are advised to stockpile enough food before the rainy season to prevent the risk of flash floods. Before the recent storm No. 7, the district directed communes to mobilize households in the stream area to temporarily evacuate to safe places, and set up "shock" teams to go to villages to promptly rescue when incidents occur.

In Ky Son district, right from the beginning of the rainy season, the district People's Committee has coordinated with neighboring Laos to update information on the amount of water flowing from upstream Laos, thereby taking measures to prevent flash floods. At the same time, propaganda work has been stepped up to raise people's awareness of preventing flash floods and landslides. The district has just coordinated with Muong Tip commune to mobilize 50 households in Vang Phao village (Muong Tip) affected by flash floods and landslides to temporarily relocate to a safe place. Warning of the risk of flash floods in Muong Xen town and villages along the Nam Mo river...

A representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: To minimize damage caused by flash floods, Nghe An will focus resources, gradually re-arranging and relocating residents and livelihoods in areas at risk of flash floods.

In particular, priority is given to combining capital sources to build and arrange safe accommodation for households affected by flash floods in the districts of Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Que Phong, Quy Chau...

To provide timely warnings and serve the evacuation of residents, Nghe An is also gradually investing in construction,installation of monitoring and early warning systemsin residential areas at high risk of flash floods. Coordinate with Laos to monitor the water situation from upstream, thereby having plans to prevent flash floods in border districts.
