Addict with 3 previous convictions continues to receive new sentence

On the afternoon of November 9, at Dang Thai Mai High School, Thanh Chuong District, the Trial Council of Thanh Chuong District People's Court opened a mobile trial for defendant Tran Van Dong (born in 1988), residing in Thanh Nho Commune, Thanh Chuong District.
According to the indictment, at around 5:00 p.m. on August 25, 2020, Dong went to Nguyen Dinh Viet's house to play. At around 8:00 p.m. the same day, Dong asked Viet to take him to Thanh An commune. Viet borrowed a Yamaha motorbike with license plate 59D1 - 78232 from Tran Dinh Hieu (born in 1978), residing in Tru Son commune, Do Luong district, and took Dong to Thuong Lam village, Thanh An commune. Upon arrival, Dong told Viet to wait while Dong went to meet a friend who had some business. Dong met a man named Phuong and asked "sell me some pink". Phuong agreed to give Dong a blue plastic bag containing many pink tablets. Dong gave Phuong 3 million, then took the blue plastic bag to the gate and asked Viet to take him home.
On the way back to An Phong village, Thanh An commune, Thanh Chuong district, the Thanh Chuong district police team discovered and caught them red-handed, confiscating a blue plastic bag containing drugs and a motorbike.

At the trial, the panel sentenced Tran Van Dong to 7 years and 6 months in prison.
Nguyen Dinh Viet did not know about Dong's actions, so there was no basis for prosecution. As for the man named Phuong, whom Dong said sold drugs to, he was not present in the area during the investigation, so there was no basis for prosecution.
Also at this mobile trial, the Thanh Chuong District People's Court tried and sentenced Nguyen Duc Trong, residing in Thanh Khe commune, to 27 months in prison and Luong Van Phanh, residing in Thanh Duong village, Thanh Son commune, to 20 months in prison for illegally buying, selling and storing drugs.
