Song Lam Nghe An continues to promote young players to the V.League 2021.
(Baonghean.vn) - While other V.League teams are making big signings in the transfer market, SLNA remains calm and composed. It is expected that SLNA will continue to promote young players to try their luck in the 2021 V.League season.
As of now, the core squad of the Nghe An team in the V.League 2020 remains unchanged. This includes a number of SLNA U21 players who made it to professional play last season, such as Thai Ba Sang, Dang Van Lam, Mai Sy Hoang, Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Nguyen Van Viet, Le Thanh Lam, and Tran Dinh Tien.
The 2021 V.League season will see coach Quang Trường continue to field the core team that won the 2012 U17 National Championship with him, including Hoàng Văn Khánh, Phan Văn Đức, Phạm Xuân Mạnh, and Bùi Đình Châu, all of whom are in their prime.
Only two players born in 1995 left the team: Ho Tuan Tai and Nguyen Phu Nguyen, along with two veterans, Nguyen Quang Tinh and Vuong Quoc Trung. Besides the youthful energy, SLNA still possesses the experience of veterans Tran Dinh Dong and Pham The Nhat in defense.

Besides pursuing the recruitment of two more foreign players, SLNA is planning to strengthen its squad with players from the youth team. Accordingly, the leadership of the Nghe An team has assigned coach and assistant coach Phan Nhu Thuat of the SLNA first team to monitor the matches of the SLNA U21 team in the 2020 National U21 Championship.
From there, coach Phan Như Thuật will assess the abilities of potential players. The youngest are striker Cai Van Quy (2004) - "Top scorer of the 2019 U15 National Championship" and Dinh Xuan Tien (2003), both of whom are currently members of the Vietnam U17 national team.
Born in 2001, these players have been part of the Vietnam U18 and U19 national teams in recent years, including goalkeeper Nguyen Van Ba, Le Van Thanh, Dang Quang Tu, Tran Quoc Thanh, Ngo Van Luong, Tran Manh Quynh, Nguyen Xuan Binh, and Ho Khac Luong. Among them, Khac Luong and Xuan Binh recently helped Phu Dong Club gain promotion to the First Division in 2021. Striker Tran Manh Quynh was loaned to PVF to play in the Second Division in 2020.

Born in 2000 are players Le Thanh Lam, Nguyen Nghi Phuong, Thai Bao Trung, Thai Minh Hieu, and Nguyen Van Trong. While Thai Bao Trung was loaned by SLNA to Ba Ria - Vung Tau FC to play in the First Division in 2020, center-back Le Thanh Lam has been training with the senior team for two years.
The policy of prioritizing homegrown talent, while not yielding immediate results, has always helped SLNA proactively secure a supply of domestic players each season. SLNA is currently the most distinctive team in the V.League and the club with the best youth development program in 2020.
