Old woman dies after injection at home of neighborhood health worker
(Baonghean.vn) - Yen Thanh District Medical Center has just sent a report to Nghe An Department of Health about the case of a patient dying after receiving an injection at home that occurred in the area.
At around 11:10 a.m. on November 25, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nam (74 years old), in Hamlet 3, Lien Thanh Commune (Yen Thanh) entered the house of Mr. Tran Khac Hung (64 years old), in Hamlet 2, Cong Thanh Commune (Yen Thanh) to ask for an injection of pain reliever due to a relapse of joint disease.
Mr. Hung refused the injection because in addition to arthritis, Mrs. Nam had also suffered from high blood pressure for many years and was being managed and monitored at Lien Thanh Commune Health Station. However, Mrs. Nam begged Mr. Hung to give her an injection to relieve the pain and make it easier to walk.

Despite emergency treatment, the patient did not survive and died at 12:10 p.m. the same day.
After Mrs. Nam died, Mr. Hung reported to the local authorities of Cong Thanh commune, informed Mrs. Nam's family and the Cong Thanh commune Health Station. The local authorities and Cong Thanh commune police worked with the two families. The authorities advised on a forensic autopsy, but Mrs. Nam's family did not agree and signed a commitment not to perform a forensic autopsy and not to file a lawsuit, only to resolve the matter by agreement between the two families.
Initial diagnosis, patient with chronic arthritis and hypertension died after injection of unknown cause.
