12th term: Disciplinary action against many senior leaders and generals
During the 12th term, Party committees, Party organizations and inspection committees at all levels inspected and supervised hundreds of thousands of Party organizations and millions of Party members, and disciplined more than 1,000 Party organizations and nearly 90,000 Party members, including senior Party and State leaders.
This morning (November 27), in Hanoi, the Central Party Secretariat held a conference to summarizecinspection and supervision agent12th Party Congress term.
Attending the event were General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong; Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong; Politburo and Secretariat members, representatives of ministries, branches and inspection committees at all levels nationwide.

Looking back at the entire 12th tenure, the inspection and supervision activities of the Party in general and the inspection sector in particular have contributed to preventing and repelling the degradation of political ideology, ethics and lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution, self-transformation" within the Party and fighting against corruption, waste and negativity. The leadership and direction of the Politburo, the Secretariat and Party committees, Party organizations and Inspection Committees at all levels have had many positive changes, more proactive and timely, the number of inspections and supervisions has increased significantly compared to the 11th Congress, the content has focused on sensitive areas, areas prone to violations and negativity, and pressing issues that cadres, Party members and people are concerned about. During the 12th tenure, Party committees, Party organizations and Inspection Committees at all levels inspected and supervised hundreds of thousands of Party organizations and millions of Party members, disciplined more than 1,000 Party organizations and nearly 90,000 Party members, including senior Party and State leaders and generals, thereby affirming the high political determination of the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat and the mettle of the Inspection sector in rectifying and building a clean and strong Party.
Speaking at the conference, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong highly appreciated the achievements of the inspection sector in the past term, which have contributed positively to strengthening the trust of cadres, party members and people in the Party and the State, and the role and importance of the inspection sector in maintaining the purity of the Party. In addition, the General Secretary and President also pointed out a number of shortcomings such as some Party committees and organizations have not paid due attention to inspection and supervision work, inspection and supervision are still scattered and formal, not really going into complex and sensitive areas, there are still Party organizations lacking courage, keeping peace as precious, there are signs of covering up for party members with positions and power who commit violations, the coordination between the Inspection Committee and relevant agencies is sometimes not tight.

Analyzing the domestic and international context, there are changes, rapid developments, complex and unpredictable that will affect our country, especially the issue of ideology, self-evolution, self-transformation, the current situation of shortcomings and violations of party organizations and party members is still at risk of increasing in number, becoming more complicated and serious in level, nature, scale and more sophisticated in violations. Negative phenomena, corruption, waste, group interests, achievement disease, term-based thinking, abuse of power, abuse of power, violations of party organization principles are still serious...

According to the General Secretary and President, to complete the tasks of inspection and supervision in the current context, it is necessary to enhance the responsibility of leaders, improve the quality of inspection staff, and focus on building a team that meets the requirements of the new period. Inspection staff must have professional qualifications, courage to fight uprightly, honestly and cleanly. Inspection agencies, together with internal affairs, inspection, investigation, prosecution and trial agencies, must truly be sharp "swords" to fight against wrongdoings, group interests and personal interests.
