Nearly 40 years old, Nguyen Huu Tho, residing in Vinh City, has been imprisoned 8 times for "Theft of property". The first time was in 1999, Tho was only 18 years old, and was fined administratively. In 2002, Tho was sentenced to 6 months in prison for "Theftasset".
It is worth mentioning that in 2005, Nguyen Huu Tho was sentenced to prison three times for "Theft of property", the total sentence the court forced the defendant to serve was 60 months in prison.

But then, in 2011, Tho was sentenced to 24 months in prison, and in 2015 was sentenced to 27 months in prison for "Theft of property".
However, not repentant, on March 8, 2020, Tho rode his motorbike to Truong Thi ward (Vinh city) and saw a 75-year-old woman holding a purse, so he had the idea of snatching it. Tho rode his motorbike close to the woman and snatched her handbag. After being robbed, the woman shouted for passersby to surround and arrest Tho and hand him over to the police.
The investigation agency has clarified that the total value that ThorobThe old woman's wallet was worth 151,000 VND. Of which, the wallet was worth 10,000 VND and the amount of money in the wallet was 141,000 VND. Nguyen Huu Tho was prosecuted for "Robbery". The court of first instance sentenced the defendant Tho to 4 years in prison for the above crime. Believing that the above sentence was too harsh, the defendant filed an appeal with the content of requesting a reduction of the sentence.
Regarding the motive for the robbery that day, Tho said that he was in debt and that the Covid-19 pandemic made it difficult for him to find a job. Therefore, when he saw the victim holding the wallet, he had the intention to rob her.
The representative of the Procuracy participating in the proceedings at court said that the defendant had not truly repented of his actions.
The Court of Appeal determined that the defendant's actions were dangerous to society. The court of first instance sentenced the defendant to the above sentence, which was appropriate, and upheld the original sentence of Nguyen Huu Tho to 4 years in prison for the crime of "Robbery".
