5 suspects prosecuted in case of car plunging into canal killing 6 people
Tran Van Minh brokered and rented a car to transport 11 workers to Tay Ninh to cross the border to Thailand to work. On the way, the car crashed into a canal, killing 6 victims.
Nguyen Van Thien; Nguyen Van Hoang, 29 years old; Nguyen Ngoc Hoan, 37 years old, all residing in Tay Ninh province, were prosecuted and detained on the same charges.

According to the investigation results, in mid-October, through social networks, Minh agreed to take 5 workers from Ha Tinh and 6 others to Thailand to work at a cost of 15 million VND per person. Due to the border closure due to Covid-19, Minh planned to guide the plane to Ho Chi Minh City, then travel by car to Tay Ninh, then take a small road through the Cambodian border area, then to Thailand.

At around midnight on November 6, Minh's group continued to arrange for 11 workers to board a 12-seat car to take them deep into Cambodia to Thailand. At 2:30 a.m. the same day, when they reached Spean Thnaot commune, Chi Kreng district, Siem Reap province, the car plunged into a flooded canal and flipped over.
Six people, including five from Ha Tinh, and the driver died on the spot. The remaining victims were injured and taken to the emergency room by local authorities. The car was towed to shore in a severely damaged condition.Location of occurrenceaccidentabout 700 km from the Tay Ninh border, 120 km from the Thai border. The initial cause was determined to be the driver falling asleep.
On November 17, the bodies of the five victims from Ha Tinh, including Nguyen Thi Mai (61 years old) and her two children Nguyen Quoc (38 years old) and Nguyen Nhat (19 years old), residing in My Loc commune. Ngo Duc Cuong (24 years old), residing in Son Loc commune (Can Loc district); Hoang Thi Thuy (25 years old), residing in Thach Lien commune (Thach Ha district) were brought back to their hometown for burial.
During the process of verifying the information, Ha Tinh police found that the case had signs of organizing illegal emigration for others, so they started an investigation.
