Couple arrested for transporting 18 kg of fresh opium

On December 23, Quy Chau District Police, Nghe An Province, are temporarily detaining 3 suspects: Nguyen Thanh Tam (born in 1956); Vi Thi Xanh (born in 1966), both residing in Na Ty village, Chau Thon commune, Que Phong district, and Vi Thi Hien (born in 1975), residing in Chau Thon commune, Que Phong district, for the act of "Illegal drug trafficking".

Previously, at 5:30 p.m. on December 21, 2020, at Ba Cong village, Chau Hoan commune, Quy Chau district, Quy Chau district police successfully discovered a case, catching red-handed a husband and wife, Vi Thi Xanh (born in 1966) and Nguyen Thanh Tam (born in 1956), both residing in Na Ty village, Chau Thon commune, Que Phong district, using a Ford Everest car to illegally transport 18 kg offresh opium poppyThe above amount of opium was hidden by the 2 subjects in the trunk of the car.

Expanding the investigation, on December 22, 2020, Que Phong District Police arrested Vi Thi Hien (born in 1975), residing in Chau Thon Commune, Que Phong District. This is the subject who hired the couple Xanh and Tam to transport the above drugs from Que Phong District to Quy Chau District.

The case is currently being investigated and clarified by Quy Chau District Police.
