Improving vocational skills for workers in the 4.0 era

Attending the training conference, Ms. Ho Thi Chau Loan - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said: In Nghe An, in 2020, 67,682 people were recruited for vocational training; of which, 7,308 rural workers were supported to learn a trade, raising the rate of workers receiving vocational training to 61%; workers receiving diplomas and certificates reached 25.3%. Currently, in Nghe An, there are two facilities that are assessment and certification centers: Vinh University of Technical Education, which grants certificates for 8 occupations; Vietnam - Korea Vocational College of Technology, which grants certificates for 4 occupations.

In vocational education activities, Nghe An still faces many difficulties. The number of participants in the assessment and certification activities is still small. Workers are not fully aware of the importance of assessment and certification of vocational skills. Propaganda work has not reached many workers, especially those in remote areas. Ms. Loan said: In the socio-economic development target, Nghe An is identified as the vocational training center of the North Central region, by 2025, 71.5% of workers must have received vocational training, and 31% of workers with certificates. Therefore, it is necessary to raise awareness, change the mindset of workers, and improve the quality of training at vocational training institutions.
