Building Nghe An into a 'Safe, friendly and unique destination'
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 29, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to review 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on developing Nghe An tourism in the 2011-2020 period and deploy tourism development tasks in 2021.

Comrades: Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee; Nguyen Manh Cuong - Director of the Department of Tourism, Deputy Head of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee chaired.
Attending the Conference were comrades who are members of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee; leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors; leaders of districts, cities and towns and representatives of the Tourism Association and its branches: Travel Agencies, Hotels, and Tour Guides.
Make a breakthrough
On October 28, 2011, the Provincial Party Standing Committee issued Resolution 05-NQ/TU on tourism development in Nghe An in the period of 2011-2020. The conference unanimously evaluated nearly 10 years of implementation and activities.tourismhas had positive changes, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the province.

In the period 2011-2015, despite being affected by the global economic crisis and recession, and the unusual developments of natural disasters and epidemics, business activitiesNghe An tourismstill maintains a fairly stable growth rate, the average growth rate of the number of tourists staying is 6.05%/year, total revenue from tourism is about 4,000 billion VND.

Entering the 2016-2020 period, the number of visitors fluctuated, in 2016 it decreased by 13% compared to 2015 due to the impact of the marine environmental incident in the Central provinces and in 2020 it decreased by more than 43% compared to 2019 due to the Covid-19 epidemic. Although the average growth rate of 4 years (2016-2019) reached 6.45%/year, in 2020 the number of visitors with accommodation decreased sharply, reaching only 2.68 million, including 19,320 international visitors, revenue was only 2,570 billion VND and did not meet the set target.
In the past 10 years (2011-2020), many tourist areas and destinations have had their detailed planning approved and investment calls promoted for implementation. The quality of planning has improved and is regularly adjusted to meet practical requirements.

Infrastructure has made a breakthrough development,facilitiesTourism services continue to develop strongly. Tourism products have changed positively, quality has been significantly improved; promotion and cooperation activities have been promoted with more diverse forms; human resource training and development work has been actively implemented, quality has changed...
However, Nghe An tourism has not yet made a breakthrough development, commensurate with the potential and expectations of the province; has not yet created products with outstanding national standards and brands. The contribution of tourism to the socio-economic structure of the province is still modest...

The conference identified the key task of 2021 as continuing to deploy work to ensure safety in prevention and control.Covid-19 epidemicin tourism activities with solutions to remove difficulties for businesses, quickly recover and promote tourism growth. Speed up the progress of building strategies and tourism development plans to integrate into the Planning period 2021-2030, vision to 2050.

Concluding the Conference, Comrade Bui Dinh Long acknowledged the results achieved by the tourism industry in 10 years of implementing Directive 05 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee. In order to promote the achieved results, promptly respond to new situations caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and gradually bring tourism activities back to normal, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the tourism industry to develop an Action Program to implement the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025.
Continue to implement the Government's "dual goals": Both resolutely preventing and fighting the epidemic and focusing on recovery and development; promptly advise on solutions to support tourism businesses to recover operations. Develop growth scenarios suitable to the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, ensuring Nghe An is a "Safe, friendly and different destination".

Also on this occasion, the Department of Tourism received the Emulation Flag from the Provincial People's Committee for excellently completing its tasks, leading the patriotic emulation movement in 2020. At the same time, 15 collectives and 19 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in tourism activities.
