Malaysian Prime Minister's Office Minister with Covid-19 had contact with Prime Minister and King

Before testing positive for Covid-19, Mr. Mustapa Mohamed, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department of Malaysia, attended a cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and met King Abdullah.

On January 11, news site mothership.sg quoted Malaysian media sources as saying that Mr. Mustapa Mohamed, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, and Ms. Rina Harun, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development of Malaysia, tested positive for Covid-19.

Notably, before being tested for Covid-19, Mr. Mustapa attended a cabinet meeting on January 6, which was attended by Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Previously, according to a post on the Malaysian Royal Palace (Istana Negara) Facebook page, Mr. Mustapa also met with Malaysian King Abdullah on January 4.

On the same day, the Malaysian Ministry of Health said the country had signed an agreement to purchase an additional 12.2 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine jointly developed by US company Pfizer and Germany's BioNTech.

In an official statement, the Malaysian Ministry of Health said the deal would bring the total number of Covid-19 vaccines purchased from Pfizer to 25 million doses, enough to vaccinate 39% of the population./.
