NHK TV reported that government officialsJapanplans to temporarily suspend entry permits for business travelers from 11 countries and territories, including Vietnam.
This means Japan will not grant entry permits to all foreigners.
Previously, on December 28, 2020, Japan temporarily suspended entry permits for foreign nationals not residing in Japan to control the Covid-19 epidemic. However, it continued to grant permits for people traveling for work purposes from 10 countries and territories with bilateral agreements, including Vietnam.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide and several other senior government officials on January 12, the governors of Tokyo and three neighboring prefectures, Saitama, Chiba and Kanagawa, asked the central government to take additional measures, including tightening controls at border gates, to control the Covid-19 epidemic and prevent new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus from entering Japan.
They also asked the government to prioritize resources for community health centers to help them fight the Covid-19 pandemic, which is now facing an increased burden as the pandemic spreads rapidly and some centers have decided to temporarily stop tracing many cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
For their part, Japanese government officials said the government will provide financial support to companies that adopt remote work models as well as companies that rely on the business hours of bars and restaurants./.
